SLP MEDIA TEAM SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT
There are photos making the rounds on Facebook and other social media outlets, portraying a storyline alleging that APC supporters injured a number of SLPP supporters at PZ, after the announcement of the progressive 25% results by the NEC Chairman, today 10/03/18. The update was given by one Alfreda Yeawa Kassay on her page, a one-time NaSSIT employee, according to her Facebook profile. The update was screened shot by other people and now being posted/shared on other social media outlets. The pictures are frightening and can potentially stir up unrest.
The Sierra Leone Police Media Team wishes it to be known that the story is false, inciteful and malicious. We want to authoritatively tell the general public that there was nothing of that magnitude around PZ that involved APC and SLPP supporters.
Therefore, the storyline portrayed on social media that supporters of both parties were engaged in a fisticuff that thus culminated into the inciteful pictures Alfreda Yeawa Kassay posted on her page, is nothing short of sheer malicious intent coming from a supposed citizen of Sierra Leone. Whether her intention was to stir up unrest or whatever, could be the subject of the public's judgment.
What we should all be craving for at this material time in our country's history is peace and nothing short of that. Let's put aside personal sentiments for now and work towards a peaceful nation. Peace for Sierra Leone means peace for all of us.
Finally, the team will continue to crave the unfettered indulgence of all peace-loving Sierra Leoneans to remain calm and trust the SLP to execute their constitutional mandate without fear or favour.
You may harbour some doubts about the fairness of the institution, but this is because you are not privy to the inner workings of the Institution. Our focus had always been and will continue to be the protection of the general public as enshrined in our laws.
