‼️From HHI-SuD Anti-Gender Based Violence Project to Water well Rehabilitation Project‼️

Yesterday, 27th February 2026, my team and I had the honor of leading a delegation of students and teachers from CEU University 🇪🇸 through the CEU-UNIMAK Social Fund Program to conduct a site assessment of our Water Well Rehabilitation Project at Baptist School Ladies Smile Makeni. In addition to the assessment, they also carried out engaging science experiments with the students, fostering learning, curiosity, and community participation.

We sincerely express our deep gratitude to the entire team for their generous funding support, which continues to make this project possible. Special thanks also go to every member of the delegation and organizing team for their dedication, collaboration, and the collective effort in bringing ideas together to drive sustainable impact in the community.

Together, we are not just rehabilitating a water well, rather we are building hope, knowledge, and a better future.

Today, 29th January, 2026, we successfully held a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on the Water Well Rehabilitation Project at Baptist School, Ladies Mile-Makeni.

The session brought together key school authorities, from Pre primary School, Primary Lower and Senior, Junior Secondary School, Senior Secondary School, and project team to discuss the importance of restoring safe and reliable water access for the school.

Discussions focused on: The current challenges in accessing clean water, The planned rehabilitation process and timelines, Community roles in ensuring sustainability and maintenance, Strengthening collaboration for long-term impact

The engagement was highly participatory, with stakeholders expressing strong commitment to supporting the project and ensuring its success. Access to clean water is not just a basic need, it is essential for health, education, and community well-being.

Together, we are taking meaningful steps toward improving learning conditions and promoting sustainable development in Makeni.

Today marks the climax of the HHI-SuD Project, a journey of impact, learning, and community transformation. In Bombali-Bana, we concluded this phase with a powerful open space campaign focused on raising awareness about the dangers of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the urgent need for sustained action.

Community members; women, men, and youth came together to reflect, share experiences, and renew their commitment to building a safer and more inclusive society. The campaign highlighted that GBV is not just an individual issue, but a collective challenge that requires continuous engagement, dialogue, and accountability.

As the project implementation phase comes to an end, our message is clear: the fight against GBV does not end here. The knowledge gained, the voices amplified, and the commitments made must continue to guide actions within homes, schools, and across the entire community.

We call on all stakeholders, community leaders, men and boys, women and girls, and local institutions, to keep the momentum alive. Together, we can break the silence, challenge harmful norms, and protect the dignity and rights of all.

The project may be ending, but the movement continues.

Many thanks to the CEU-UniMak Fund for the support that makes this project a success.
