The Harvest Horizon Initiative for Sustainable Development (HHI-SuD-Project) has successfully concluded Session Two of our Gender-Based Violence Literacy Training in Bombali-Bana, Safrokoh Limba Chiefdom, Bombali District.
This session brought together passionate facilitator, participants (women and girls), community members especially traditional leaders who are committed change-makers in ending gender-based violence through awareness, education, and action.
Through interactive discussions, storytelling, and expert-led session, participants gained deeper insights into, Holistic Survivor Support and Rights Awareness, under which emphasis was laid on key Tenets like:
Understanding Survivor Needs; which included safety, medical care, psychosocial support, and confidentiality.
Referral Pathways; navigated how survivors can access police, health services, social workers, NGOs, and shelters.
Rights of Survivors; which included Right to dignity, privacy, non-discrimination, access to justice, free medical and legal aid (available) were discussed.
Furthermore, Trauma-Informed Approach; like Respectful non-judgmental survivor-centered care was emphasized.
While, Community Roles; Role of family, community leaders, service providers in supporting survivors was as well navigated.
Finally, Awareness Building was strengthened; Correcting myths and misconceptions about GBV survivors.
