A Helping Hand for Sustainable Agriculture

We're excited to announce that our youth-based agricultural group, Green Agriculture for Sustainable Environment, has received a generous donation from a passionate philanthropist. This kind individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, has supported our farm project with $100 (over NLe 2,300).

With a background in journalism and experience working with international agencies supporting cashew farmers, this philanthropist is dedicated to empowering youth in agriculture. Currently working with a charitable organization in the North, he has demonstrated his commitment to making a positive impact.

We're grateful for his contribution, which will help us continue nursing a variety of vegetable seeds for our second cropping. Our goal is to achieve food-sufficient communities in Bombali and beyond, and we're thankful for partners like Sierratec Secure and MADAM SL who share our vision.

Thank you to our generous donor for your invaluable support. You're part of our struggle to create a sustainable future for our communities.

We're encouraging other individuals and agric based organisations to support us - as the so called "Feed Salone" project is a FARCE!

Breaking Barriers in Youth Farming!

Limited access to viable seeds and proper tools continues to be a major bottleneck for many farmers across Sierra Leone — and as young people in agriculture, we’ve felt that struggle firsthand.

Thanks to a timely intervention by MADAM SL, we’ve received a boost through the provision of assorted farm tools and quality seeds!

This support comes at a crucial time as we prepare for our second cropping season in September.

We’re grateful for this empowerment and remain committed to transforming agriculture through youth-led innovation and resilience.

Training of GASE Farmers in Leadership and Savings Skills

As part of efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of farmer-based organizations under the Green Agriculture for Sustainable Environment (GASE) initiative, MADAM-SL conducted an intensive training workshop on leadership and savings skills.

The objective of the training was to equip GASE farmers with essential leadership competencies and basic financial literacy to promote effective group management and sustainable community development.

Key topics covered included principles of good leadership, roles and responsibilities of group leaders, decision-making processes, conflict resolution, and practical strategies for savings mobilization and group finance management.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions, group work, and real-life scenario analysis.

Feedback from attendees indicated improved understanding of leadership dynamics and a renewed commitment to applying savings practices within their respective groups.

This training marks an important step toward building resilient agricultural communities capable of managing their own development processes with greater autonomy and accountability.
