Today, 20th August 2026, Network Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-SL) successfully conducted an interactive Youth Dialogue Against Digital Violence and Promoting Online Safety for Women, Girls and Youths at the American Corner, Kenema Mission Road, City Library.

The dialogue brought together 30 selected young participants who were chosen through a competitive application process from more than 60 applicants.

The activity provided a safe and engaging space for young people to learn, share experiences, and discuss practical ways to prevent and respond to digital violence, while promoting safer, more responsible, inclusive, and respectful online spaces.

NEYG-SL sincerely appreciates all participants for their active engagement, valuable contributions, and commitment throughout the dialogue. We also extend our appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this important activity a success.

Together, let us stand against digital violence and promote safer digital spaces for all. 🌍📱

Today, 17 August 2026, Network Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-SL) proudly hosted and joined other youth-led organizations in Kenema City for a Regional Youth Climate Consultation through the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY).

The consultation brought together young people from across the region to share their lived experiences and perspectives on the impacts of climate change in their communities. Young participants discussed key challenges affecting their communities, while also exploring practical approaches to climate resilience, adaptation, mitigation, and youth-led climate action.

The consultation provided an important platform for young people to raise their voices, exchange ideas, identify community-driven solutions, and contribute to the broader climate agenda.

As NEYG-SL, we remain committed to empowering young people to become active leaders in building climate-resilient, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive communities.

Young people are not just victims of climate change they are part of the solution.

Our partnership discussions for the implementation of the “Community Dialogue for Sustainable Waste and Disaster Management Actions Initiative” continued today, 7th August 2026, with the Environmental Protection and Safety Unit of the Kenema District Council.

The meeting forms part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders in addressing waste management, environmental protection, disaster preparedness, and community resilience across Kenema.

Through this initiative, Network Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-SL) seeks to work closely with communities and local authorities to promote responsible waste disposal practices, identify environmental risks, mobilize communities for clean-up actions, and strengthen awareness and preparedness for disasters.

The partnership with the Kenema District Council represents an important step toward building cleaner, safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

We remain committed to working with stakeholders to turn community dialogue into practical and sustainable action.

Are you a youth-led, women-led, or child-led organization, or a young person living in Kenema who is passionate about combating digital violence and promoting online safety for youths, women, and girls?

Network Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-SL) is organizing an Intensive One-Day Youth Dialogue Session on Combating Digital Violence and Promoting Online Safety for Youths, Women, and Girls.

This interactive dialogue aims to empower participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to prevent, identify, and respond to digital violence while promoting responsible and safe use of digital platforms.

During the dialogue session, participants will:

- Gain a clear understanding of digital violence and its different forms.
- Learn how to recognize and prevent cyberbullying, online harassment, cyberstalking, online scams, and other forms of online abuse.
- Build practical skills to stay safe and protect their personal information online.
- Learn how to report incidents of digital violence and access available support services.
- Discuss the impact of digital violence on youths, women, and girls in Sierra Leone.
- Share experiences, challenges, and community-driven solutions.
- Strengthen their capacity to become digital safety ambassadors within their communities and organizations.
- Network with fellow youth leaders, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders committed to creating safer digital spaces.

On 6th August 2026, the Executive Director, Duty Executive Director, and Environmental Sustainability Officer of Network Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-SL) held a productive meeting with the Environmental Protection and Safety Unit of the Kenema City Council to discuss collaboration on the implementation of the "Community Dialogue for Sustainable Waste and Disaster Management Actions Initiative."

The initiative has officially been launched in three communities in Kenema City: Nyandiama, Kpetema, and Lambayama, with the goal of promoting sustainable waste management, disaster preparedness, environmental protection, and community participation.

During the meeting, the Kenema City Council commended NEYG-SL for its commitment and proactive efforts toward protecting the environment and improving community wellbeing. The Environmental Protection and Safety Unit also pledged its full support and commitment to work closely with NEYG-SL to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative.

This partnership marks an important step toward building cleaner, healthier, and more resilient communities through collective action and sustainable environmental practices.

Together, we can create lasting change for our communities and future generations.

OFFICIAL DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with profound sadness and deep regret that Network Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-SL) announces the passing of our dedicated School Focal Person, Mr. Umaru Bangalie, who served under our School Wellbeing Initiative at Islamic Secondary School, Kenema.

Mr. Bangalie passed away at 1:20 a.m. this morning at Kenema Government Hospital.

Mr. Bangalie was a committed educator and a passionate advocate for the wellbeing of children and young people. Through his dedication, humility, and service, he made a meaningful contribution to the implementation of the School Wellbeing Initiative and positively impacted the lives of many students and colleagues. His passing is a great loss to our organization, the school community, his family, and the nation.

On behalf of the Board, Management, staff, volunteers, and partners of NEYG-SL, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Islamic Secondary School community during this difficult time.

May the Almighty grant him eternal peace, comfort his loved ones, and give us all the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

Rest in perfect peace, Mr. Umaru Bangalie. You will always be remembered for your service and dedication.May his soul rest in peace, and may his family and colleagues find comfort during this difficult time.😭😭😭😭
