If the frist lady of Sierra Leone is fighting for the girls empowerment, what should be the faith of this young man please, your comments ooh hmmm.

In line with the provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, the Child Rights Act of 2025 and with support from our community structures, partners, and the Family Support Unit, we have been able to:

1. The alleged accused and some family members have been arrested and detained in accordance with the Act;
2. Police have obtained statements from the alleged perpetrators (the man and family members);
3. The victim is currently receiving psycho-social support;
4. The victim has been placed in a safe home;
5. We continue to assess the victim’s state of mind and provide the necessary protection support.

We urge community members to continue supporting efforts to end abuse by reporting cases through the 116 Hotline for r**e and other forms of abuse.

To protect the dignity and privacy of the child, we strongly appeal to the public to stop sharing her photos and videos circulating from earlier posts.

The Ministry would also like to strongly advise all blogging platforms, media outlets, and social media users to exercise extreme caution when publishing or sharing child-related and gender-sensitive content. The safety, dignity, identity, and welfare of children must always be protected in line with child protection laws and ethical standards.
