On 3 September 2026, the Programme for Inclusion and Empowerment (PIE), supported by Liliane Fonds through One Family People, provided essential assistive devices and support to children with disabilities from Kambia, Bamoi Luma, and Rokupr.

The support included elbow crutches, prosthetic feet, epilepsy medication, and sun protection cream to promote the children’s health, mobility, safety, and overall wellbeing.

Parents and caregivers also received important guidance on the proper use of epilepsy medication, sun protection cream, and the importance of regular follow-up to help manage seizures and support their children’s continued wellbeing.

Together, we are creating a more inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

From Pujehun to Kambia: The Inspiring Journey of Kamara Joseph Alieu
Every life has a story, but some journeys redefine identity, resilience, and purpose.

In this powerful video interview, Joseph Alieu Kamara shares his extraordinary life path. moving from a small village in Pujehun in the South all the way to Kambia in the North. His story captures a unique journey of cultural unity, growing up as a Mende boy and becoming a Themne man.

Crucially, Joseph speaks about his lived experience growing up as a child with a disability in Sierra Leone. Turning challenges into advocacy, he has channeled those personal experiences into founding Wesofod Kambia an organization dedicated to empowering and supporting children and young people with disabilities across the country.

His life is a testament to the power of resilience, community, and breaking barriers for the next generation.

On 20th and 21st August 2026, WESOFOD-SL brought together its teams for a two-day Mid-Year Performance Review Meeting and Planning Session a space to reflect on the work done so far, celebrate progress, and honestly examine the challenges encountered across our projects.

Our various project teams had the opportunity to present their progress, while the Finance and MEAL teams shared key insights to strengthen accountability, learning, and evidence-based decision-making. Together, we reviewed what worked, identified areas requiring improvement, and developed a consolidated activity plan for the remaining months of 2026.

The review was more than just a meeting it was an opportunity to pause, learn, realign, and move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

Six months reviewed. Lessons captured. Priorities aligned. The next chapter is ready.

Creating Inclusive Businesses, One Commitment at a Time!

WESOFOD-SL, through the Program for Inclusion and Empowerment (PIE) in partnership with One Family People with funds from the Liliane Fonds, trained 10 local businesses in Kambia District on promoting inclusive employment and creating opportunities for persons with disabilities.

All 10 business owners signed an MoU with WESOFOD-SL, committing to support and employ persons with disabilities in their businesses. ❤️

From commitment to action. From exclusion to inclusion. Together, we create opportunities and restore dignity.

The Welfare Society for the Disabled Sierra Leone (WESOFOD-SL) was pleased to join the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, in celebrating International Youth Day 2026 under the theme: “Empowering Young People for Inclusive Development, Leadership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Community Transformation.” 🌍✨

As we celebrate, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that young people with disabilities are not left behind. We call for greater opportunities, inclusion and meaningful participation of young people in leadership and community development. WESOFOD-SL proudly congratulates our Pujehun District Coordinator, Mr. Sillah, on his successful election as Administrative and Finance Officer of the Pujehun Civil Society Forum (CSF), where he was elected unopposed.

This is a historic achievement, as he becomes the first person with a disability to be elected to the Executive of the Civil Society Forum in Pujehun District. His dedication to promoting inclusive development and strengthening civil society continues to inspire us all.
