WESOFOD in partnership with Global Coalition of TB Advocates with funds from The Global Fund and Thomson Reuters Foundation through PUSH Project (Promoting Universal Sexual and Reproductive Health), successfully concluded a day Multi-Stakeholders Inclusive Health Dialogue, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (Kambia District Health Management Team).

The dialogue brought together health workers, members of the DHMT, community stakeholders, young people, and Organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) to discuss barriers affecting access to inclusive healthcare services and identify practical solutions for improving accessibility and dignity within health facilities in Kambia District.

A major outcome of the dialogue was the commitment secured from healthcare authorities and workers to strengthen inclusive healthcare delivery for persons with disabilities. Three healthcare representatives, including the Matron and other health workers, volunteered as Disability Inclusion Ambassadors to support persons with disabilities accessing services at Kambia Government Hospital. Through this initiative, WESOFOD-SL will coordinate with the ambassadors to ensure persons with disabilities receive proper guidance, support, and inclusive healthcare services whenever they visit the hospital.

On 20th May 2026, through the Program for Inclusion and Empowerment (PIE) project and with support from Liliane Fonds via One Family People, organized a Disability Inclusive Health Training at the Resource Center in Kambia Town. The training brought together 40 health stakeholders to strengthen their understanding of disability concepts, accessibility, reasonable accommodation, and inclusive healthcare practices for persons with disabilities.

The session highlighted key barriers affecting access to healthcare, including attitudinal, communication, and institutional challenges. A skit performed by the CBR Coordinators illustrated discriminatory attitudes sometimes faced by persons with disabilities in health facilities, prompting reflection among participants. Many health workers expressed commitment to promoting disability inclusion and sharing the knowledge within their respective facilities.
