Why Youth Mental Health Matters in Sierra Leone?

Our latest blog explores the growing impact of substance abuse—particularly Kush—and why early mental health support is critical in breaking this cycle.

At Leh We Talk, through the Wan-De Project, we are working directly with young people to provide awareness, skills, and support that can transform lives.

“I don’t have a computer yet… but when I do, I know what to do.” 💻✨

Through the Wan-De-Project, this young student has gained:
✔️ Computer skills
✔️ Business and entrepreneurship knowledge
✔️ Mental health awareness

She’s learning today so she can build her future tomorrow.
This is what empowerment looks like.

Growth looks like this 💡
From not knowing how to switch on a computer… to confidently operating one.
From learning business skills… to planning her own future business.
From struggling with emotions… to learning how to manage them.

A student from MMTU shares how the Wan-De Project is changing her life, step by step.

This is more than learning. This is transformation.

Leh We Talk engaged students from Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) through our Wan-De Project, introducing them to basic computer skills — including students who were using a computer for the very first time.

This session focused on digital literacy, hands-on learning, and listening.
For many students, it was their first opportunity to understand what a computer is, how it works, and how digital skills can open doors to education, employment, and innovation.

The LehWeTalk Wan-De Project is designed to bring learning beyond theory by exposing young people to practical skills, mentorship, and real conversations that help them build confidence and prepare for the future.

We believe that access to digital skills is not a privilege — it is a necessity.

Today, Leh We Talk hosted students From REC Primary School Adonkia in our office as part of our Wan-De Project, introducing them to basic computer skills, many of them using a computer for the very first time.

This session was more than just training. It was about exposure, confidence, and opportunity.
Through practical learning and open listening, we helped students understand what a computer is, how it works, and why digital skills matter in today’s world.

The Wan-De Project by Leh We Talk is designed to give students a safe space to learn, ask questions, and gain real-life skills that are often missing in traditional classrooms.

We believe that every young person deserves access to knowledge, technology, and guidance, regardless of background.
