KAMATIPA COMMUNITY TEACHER OFFERS TO SPONSOR ORPHAN
Last week, a 6 year old girl broke a young teacher into tears when she refused to leave the class after being chased several times by grade 1 learners.
According to facts made available, a 6 year old girl from Kamatipa Compound of Kitwe living with her ever drunk mother decided to join her friends who were in class on Wednesday but she was chased and pushed away.
When the teacher entered the class to teach, the girl came back and stood in the door way, however, at first the teacher thought she was a nuisance and asked her to leave.
She only disappeared for a few minutes and before the lesson could develop, she was back and this time, she sat on the door step to tell the teacher that she was not going to disturb.
It was at this point when the teacher read the situation. She felt bad. She betrayed the small girl who believed she could help. She silently approached the girl and asked her what she wanted. The girl with dripping tears looked down and said lowly, "Ndefwaya ukusambilila." She literally meant I want to learn.
Hearing these words broke the teacher. She could not look up, her heart was pounding, tears flowed. She allowed the girl to enter the class and sit.
Meanwhile, this is a small private school in Kamatipa which offers education almost free. The teacher has said she will support the child. She bought her the school uniform and all the school requirements for the child to blend in.
Her mother wakes up and goes to bed in beer. The father reportedly died three years ago.
