About Us
The Society for Peace Studies and Practice – Sierra Leone (SPSP-SL) is a non-profit peacebuilding organisation established in 2023 with the support and approval of SPSP Nigeria. We are committed to advancing a non-violent approach to conflict resolution through research, advocacy, and community-driven actions that build resilience and strengthen local capacities for peace.
Why We Exist
Sierra Leone has made notable progress in moving from war to peace. Yet, challenges such as political divisions, social fragmentation, and threats to national cohesion remain pressing. Without deliberate efforts to institutionalise peace, there is always the risk of slipping back into structural violence. SPSP-SL exists to help close this gap by ensuring peace promotion becomes a sustainable and nationally owned process.
Our Vision & Mission
Our vision is a Sierra Leone where peacebuilding is led and owned by the people, with effective local conflict resolution mechanisms fostering unity and stability. Our mission is to promote peace and national cohesion by focusing on conflict prevention, management, and transformation through inclusive, community-based strategies.
Our Motto
Peace to Humanity
Through partnerships, training, and public engagement, SPSP-SL seeks to create a culture of peace that transcends divisions and nurtures national unity. By empowering citizens and institutions, we aim to make peace not just the absence of violence but a lived reality across Sierra Leone.
