We successfully concluded a two-day Disability Inclusive Climate Action Training in Freetown on 17–18 December 2025.

The training brought together youth leaders, organisations of persons with disabilities, community actors, and local authorities to strengthen practical skills for inclusive climate action. Sessions focused on climate risks in flood-prone communities, disability rights and inclusion, accessible communication and early warning systems, inclusive evacuation planning, and action planning for schools and communities.

The training was jointly organised by Youth Climate Council Sierra Leone, the Sierra Leone Association of Persons with Albinism (SLAPWA), the African Youth with Disabilities Network Sierra Leone (AYWDN-SL), Freetown City Council, and Sightsavers.

This activity was jointly funded by under the Citizenship and Political Participation (CPP) programme, , and Youth Climate Council Sierra Leone.

Participants developed concrete action plans to improve accessibility, preparedness, and participation of persons with disabilities in climate response. One point stood out. Climate action fails when inclusion is treated as optional.

We thank all organisers, facilitators, and participants for the strong collaboration and leadership shown throughout the training.
