Valentine’s Spotlight: A Heart for Global Transformation.
On this Valentine’s Day, a day dedicated to honoring the heart’s greatest work, Africa Education Empowerment Movement (AEEM) is proud to place a special spotlight on a leader whose life is a testament to the power of compassionate service: Hope Harrison, Executive Director of Mission Central.
Hope Harrison has served as Mission Central’s Executive Director since November 2018, bringing a wealth of experience and a relentless spirit of advocacy to the organization. Prior to her current role, she spent nearly six years as the Director of Development and Alumni Relations with Harrisburg Area Community College. Her diverse background also includes pivotal roles as a Youth Director, Director of Career Development, and Program Director.
Hope’s deep-seated passion for the mission was forged during her two and a half years of service in the US Peace Corps in the Republic of Georgia an experience that gave her a firsthand perspective on the resilience of the human spirit in the face of international challenges.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Development from American University and a Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from Penn State. When she isn't leading transformational change, she finds joy in nature hiking, swimming, and spending precious time with her three young children.
At Africa Education Empowerment Movement (AEEM), we are profoundly inspired by Hope’s journey. Her background in International Development and her time in the Peace Corps mirror our own dedication to grassroots empowerment in Sierra Leone and across Africa.
"We at AEEM see in Hope a kindred spirit. Her love for serving all people, regardless of who they are or where they come from, is the exact bridge we seek to build between the United States and the Africa Education Empowerment Movement. We are eagerly anticipating the moment our paths cross, as we believe her expertise in international development and our boots-on-the-ground advocacy in West Africa can create a symphony of change."
