“Before, we struggled to even eat. Today, I am proud to say I am a businesswoman and my son is in school.” Isata Rogers, 22, a mother from Pujehun who lost her parents, raised her child alone, and is now breaking the cycle of poverty.

Through BRAC Sierra Leone’s CTGA project, Isata gained life skills and business training. Now she sells rice, cooking oil, and palm oil supporting her son Foday, her grandmother, and herself.
Foday attends FAWE Pre School Masam, supported through the Community Two Generational Approach (CTGA) by BRAC Sierra Leone where his teacher says he’s more expressive, engaged, and loves learning songs & counting.
This is what happens when you invest in both parent and child. Growing together. Building resilience. Changing everything.

Strengthening Accountability & Impact: Joint Field Monitoring Visit in Bo District

Yesterday, a high-level joint delegation conducted an extensive field monitoring visit to three of our empowerment clubhouses in Bo District: Lanyayai, Godswill, and Bamayange.

The visit was anchored on our core pillars of accountability, project tracking, and fund utilization, ensuring that every resource deployed directly transforms the lives of participants on the ground.

The delegation held interactive, deep-dive meetings with AIM programme participants and Youth Development Committees (YDCs), with discussions centring on three areas of focus:

Social Empowerment & Family Dynamics - How clubhouse life and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) are strengthening family bonding, improving relationships, and enhancing overall household welfare.
Livelihood & Economic Support - Reviewing the progress of ongoing financial and livelihood interventions designed to foster self-reliance among adolescent girls and young women.
Safeguarding & Hygiene - Reaffirming our adherence to community safeguarding policies, health practices, and personal hygiene standards.

The visiting directors expressed great satisfaction with the level of community ownership and the visible effectiveness of the social empowerment models across all three clubhouses.
A sincere thank you to our partners at and for their steadfast oversight and collaboration as we track progress, maintain transparency, and build sustainable impact across Sierra Leone.

Celebrating Partnerships and Impact: Highlights from Last Night’s High-Profile Partner Dinner!

Last night, a memorable and successful regional monitoring visit by our visiting BRAC International leadership, Regional Director Anne M***a and Head of Programme Quality and Learning, Harold Mwaluda, culminated in a high-profile partner dinner hosted by our Country Director, Adolphus Doe.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to meet, greet, and align strategies for empowering women and youth across Sierra Leone. We were deeply honored to host key government dignitaries, line ministries, and development partners who remain central to our collective mission.

Special highlights of the evening included fruitful engagements with:
• Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, Minister of Youth Affairs
• Mrs. Melrose Karminty, Minister of Social Welfare
• Mr. Charles Vandi, Senior Director of the Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs (representing the Minister)
• Ms. Alice Neneh James, Director of

We were also delighted to interface with heads of collaborating civil society and non-governmental organizations, including representatives from the Forum for African Women Educationalists ( ) and GADNet Sierra Leone, alongside many other valued development stakeholders.

As our regional leaders wrap up their tracking mission, this dinner underscored a shared, unyielding commitment: we are not just executing programs; we are working hand-in-hand with the Government of Sierra Leone and local partners to protect childhood, build sustainable livelihoods, and permanently transform lives.

A massive thank you to all our distinguished guests for gracing the occasion and for your continued partnership! Together, we are building a stronger future.

“We are not just doing a job-we are impacting people’s lives.”

Following an insightful field monitoring visit to our Cohort 2 & 3 AIM participants across the North and East of Sierra Leone, our Africa Regional Director, Anne M***a, and Harold Mwaluda (Head of Programme Quality and Learning) met with the Country Office team today.

While expressing immense pride in our frontline heroes, Madam Anne issued a timely reminder on the importance of swift intervention, drawing a powerful lesson from the Parable of the Sower:
“The more you delay providing the required support, the more you leave participants unable to achieve their dreams.”
She firmly emphasized the core values of accountability and honesty, urging staff to remain stellar ambassadors of the BRAC brand: “It pains my heart to see young Africans deprive their own through fraudulent means. Always remember that we are an organisation that changes lives. Please make sure your behavior positively represents the organization, because you are the face of BRAC.”

To wrap up the meeting, the team presented our visiting regional leaders with unique, locally made Sierra Leonean gifts as a token of appreciation.

The successful visit culminates tonight with a high-profile partner dinner hosted by our Country Director, Adolphus Doe, to meet, greet, and align with key government and development stakeholders. Stay tuned and watch out for our upcoming dinner highlights!
