Tradition and culture should celebrate love, dignity, and growth, not pain.

🚫 FGM/FGC is torture, not a rite of passage.

Together, let’s protect our girls and embrace positive cultural practices that uplift, not harm.

Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) is a violent violation of human rights that causes lifelong physical and emotional trauma. Millions of girls are subjected to this harmful practice under the guise of tradition, denying them safety, dignity, and freedom.

It’s time to break the silence. Let’s protect our girls and advocate for their rights to live free from violence and fear.

Protect Her Rights. Stop FGM.

Spreading joy and kindness during the holidays is what truly fills our hearts at Shaping Young Minds Initiative. After the beautiful memories we shared last year at The Raining Season Orphanage, returning this year felt both special and meaningful.

Although we couldn’t host a full party like last year, we shared something just as powerful , time, conversation, laughter, and love. We had warm chit-chat with the children and donated toys, games, and food items to these amazing young souls at TRS.

Seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and feeling their excitement reminded us that sometimes, the simplest gestures create the biggest impact.

Moments like these reaffirm why we do what we do, because every child deserves joy, connection, and care, especially during the holidays.

Special thanks to Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, Brenham, TX, and Mount Rose - Mount Seriah Outreach Campus. Your generous support made this year’s donation possible. May the Lord continue to provide for you and strengthen your church as you impact lives through love and service.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this visit possible and proud to continue showing up for these wonderful children.

Shaping Young Minds Initiative joins the Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law (CARL-SL) in calling on Parliament and His Excellency, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, to reconsider the implications of the Child Rights Act, 2025, particularly its silence on Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).

We further urge the President to take affirmative action by withholding his signature and demanding the inclusion of a provision that explicitly criminalizes FGM/FGC in the interest of protecting the rights and wellbeing of girls across Sierra Leone.

The Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law, Sierra Leone (CARL-SL) expresses profound concern regarding the recent press statement issued by Parliament on July 7, 2025, concerning the Child Rights Act, 2025 and its implications for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).
