The Annual Thanksgiving, Communion & Divine Service of Wilberforce Lodge No: 6432EC was a remarkable and spiritually uplifting occasion, held today Sunday, 22nd February 2026, at the Centenary Tabernacle W.A.M Church on Circular Road, Freetown. The sacred gathering brought together Brethren, church members, family, and well-wishers in gratitude to Almighty God for a successful Masonic year.
Representing the District Grand Master at the service was WBro. Winston Guilford Jonnah, who reverently read the Gospel lesson on behalf of the DGM. His participation reflected the strong bond between the Craft and the Christian faith, emphasizing humility, service, and thanksgiving.
The sermon, THE LION'S WISDOM, delivered powerfully by Bro. Rev. Michael Winston Kuti-George, centered on the theme:
SERVING IN STRENGTH, LEADING IN LOVE: The Mason's Call to Community, Peace and Harmony.
The message was both inspiring and reflective, highlighting key principles that resonate deeply within Freemasonry:
Managing differences with wisdom and dignity
Showing love and harmony in diversity
Living a life of brotherly love, relief, and truth
Through vivid illustrations and scriptural insight, the preacher reminded the Brethren that true strength is not in dominance, but in compassion; not in authority alone, but in service. The “lion’s wisdom” was portrayed as courage guided by humility and leadership shaped by love.
Special praise was showered upon Worshipful Brother Arthur Ben-Carew for his faithful stewardship during his administration. He was commended for leading the Lodge with dignity, grace, and unwavering commitment to Masonic values. His tenure was described as one marked by unity, growth, and purposeful service.
In a true spirit of charity and gratitude, the proceeds from the donation envelopes amounted to over Le10,000, (New Leones) which was generously presented to the church to support God’s work. This act of giving further demonstrated the Lodge’s dedication to relief and community support, extending Masonic principles beyond the Lodge room into the wider society.
The occasion concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by the Worshipful Master, who expressed sincere appreciation to the clergy, the District representation, visiting Brethren, church congregation, and all who contributed to the success of the service. He emphasized that the presence and unity displayed were a testament to the strength of the Fraternity and the blessings of fellowship.
Indeed, the Thanksgiving Service was not only a celebration of a completed administration but also a reaffirmation of Wilberforce Lodge’s commitment to faith, charity, peace, and harmony standing firm in strength, yet always leading in love.
