DISTRICT GRAND LODGE OF SIERRA LEONE AND THE GAMBIA PARTICIPATES IN THE ANNUAL CONVOCATION AND COMMUNICATION OF THE DISTRICT GRAND LODGE OF NIGERIA

LAGOS, NIGERIA | 10 OCTOBER 2026

The District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia participated in the Annual Convocation and Communication of the District Grand Lodge of Nigeria, held at Paradise Arena, Murtala Muhammed Way, Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday, 10 October 2026.

The delegation was led by RWBro Emile Moses Charles Carr, District Grand Master, whose leadership underscored the District’s commitment to strengthening fraternal relations, promoting Masonic unity, and fostering closer cooperation with sister Districts across West Africa.

The visit provided an important opportunity for the delegation to engage with Brethren from Nigeria and other visiting jurisdictions, exchange experiences, and strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual respect that unite Freemasons beyond geographical boundaries.

The programme commenced on Friday, 9 October, with a meeting of Heads of Divisions, Boards and Committees, followed by the Sir Louis Mbanefo Memorial Lecture, delivered by RWBro (Prof.) George Eriyaremu. The day concluded with a Welcome Cocktail, providing visiting delegations and members of the host District with an opportunity to interact and enjoy fellowship in a relaxed and cordial atmosphere.

Saturday’s proceedings featured the Annual Convocation at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Annual Communication at 2:00 p.m. These significant gatherings brought together Companions and Brethren for their respective proceedings. The day concluded with the Annual Meeting Dinner and Banquet, which provided a further opportunity to strengthen fraternal bonds and celebrate the spirit of Masonic fellowship.

The programme continued on Sunday, 11 October, with a brunch for invited foreign delegations and Heads of Divisions. This gathering provided an intimate setting for further interaction, meaningful conversations, and the strengthening of relationships among the participating delegations.

Beyond the formal proceedings, our delegation from the District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia enjoyed a memorable boat ride, adding a special and delightful dimension to the visit. The experience was generously provided by WBro Olive Charles Andrews Primus, Master of The District Grand Stewards Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia No. 1008. His thoughtful gesture offered the Brethren an opportunity to relax, share laughter, enjoy the scenic surroundings, and strengthen their bonds of friendship outside the formal Masonic setting.

The District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia sincerely appreciates WBro Andrews for his generous contribution to the visit and for helping make the delegation’s experience even more memorable.

Under the leadership of RWBro Emile Moses Charles Carr, the delegation’s participation reflected the District’s determination to strengthen fraternal ties, deepen regional partnerships, and contribute to the continued growth of Freemasonry throughout West Africa.

District Grand Chapter of Sierra Leone and The Gambia Strengthens Royal Arch Relations with Guinea

The District Grand Chapter of Sierra Leone and The Gambia has taken another important step towards strengthening fraternal relations with Guinea through its participation in the installation of the First Grand Principal of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Guinea.

The visiting delegation, led by E. Comp. Reginald Fynn, attended the ceremony at the Temple of Gbessia on Sunday, 11 October 2026. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen ties between the two jurisdictions and reaffirm their shared commitment to the advancement of Royal Arch Masonry across West Africa.

The installation ceremony celebrated the rich traditions and distinctive symbolism of the Holy Royal Arch, with its enduring emphasis on the pursuit of Light, Truth, and deeper understanding. The occasion also highlighted the importance of principled leadership, dedication to the Order, and the preservation of its ceremonial heritage for future generations.

Beyond the significance of the installation itself, the District's presence represented an important expression of goodwill towards its Companions in Guinea. By participating in this landmark occasion, the District Grand Chapter of Sierra Leone and The Gambia demonstrated its desire to nurture closer relations, encourage future engagements, and build a stronger foundation for cooperation between the two Royal Arch jurisdictions.

A Historic and Unforgettable Gathering of Royal Arch Masons in Lagos.

The strong bonds of brotherhood that tie the West African Districts under the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England were on full display in grand style!
The District Grand Chapter of Nigeria (Inaugurated 1924) hosted a landmark Convocation at the Paradise Event Arena 261 Murtala Muhammed Way, beside Alagomeji Bus Stop Yaba, Lagos, on Saturday, 10th October, 2026. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with warmth, dignity, and that unmistakable spirit of genuine companionship.

A Delegation Led by Distinction & Grace

The event was made all the more memorable by the presence of a high-powered visiting delegation led by none other than the District Grand Superintendent of the District Grand Chapter of Sierra Leone and The Gambia, E.Comp. Emile Moses Charles Carr.

Known for his inspiring leadership, charm, and unwavering commitment to the Royal Arch, E.Comp. Emile Moses Charles Carr brought a remarkable energy and warmth to the Convocation. Leading a distinguished group of Companions from his District, his attendance was a true testament to his dedication to fostering unity across borders. When E.Comp. A Time-Honored West African Tradition

This gathering reinforced a cherished tradition built over many decades: the sister Districts of Sierra Leone & The Gambia, Ghana, and Nigeria standing shoulder-to-shoulder, supporting one another's historic occasions, and lifting each other up. Distance has never been an obstacle when it comes to the deep-rooted affection and mutual respect shared among these three brethren nations.

"We Three Do Agree..."

Of course, no Royal Arch gathering would be complete without a nod to our rich ritual!

Every Companion knows the iconic passage, “We three do meet and agree in love and unity.” While those sacred words traditionally refer to the Three Principals in Chapter, seeing the leaders and Companions of Sierra Leone & The Gambia, Ghana, and Nigeria gathered together in Lagos made everyone chuckle. You’d almost think the authors of the ritual had this very West African triad in mind!

Whether laboring together inside the Chapter or enjoying laughter over the Festive Board, when these three Districts come together, agreeing in love and unity isn't just ritual, it’s second nature!

The District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia Delegation Attends Grand Lodge of Guinea Annual General Assembly

The District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia, English Constitution, was represented at the Annual General Assembly of the Grand Lodge of Guinea by a delegation led by WBro. Justice R. S. Fynn (AA), PAGStB, DDGM, accompanied by other Brethren of the District.

A major highlight of the Assembly was the solemn installation of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Guinea for the 2026–2031 term, performed at the Radisson Blu Hotel by the Grand Master of the Grande Loge Nationale Française (GLNF).

The District’s participation reflected its commitment to strengthening Masonic fellowship, promoting regional cooperation, and fostering friendship and mutual respect among Brethren across jurisdictions.

50 Years of Masonic Service: WBro. Feyi Edmundson Senex Jones-Asgill Celebrated

Freetown, Sierra Leone, Fifty years of dedicated service to Freemasonry was celebrated in a memorable ceremony held during a meeting of Loyal Lodge on Thursday 1st October 2026, in honour of WBro. Feyi Edmundson Senex Jones-Asgill, marking his remarkable Golden Jubilee in the Craft.

The occasion was made even more special by the presence of RWBro. Emile Moses Charles Carr, District Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of Sierra Leone and The Gambia, English Constitution, whose attendance added distinction and significance to the celebration.

During the ceremony, the District Grand Master paid tribute to Bro. Jones-Asgill for his five decades of commitment, fellowship and service to Freemasonry. On behalf of the District, he presented him with a commemorative 50-year Masonic service pin, recognising this exceptional milestone and the enduring contribution he has made to the Craft.

The presentation was met with warm appreciation from the Brethren, who gathered to celebrate not merely the passage of time, but a lifetime of Masonic commitment.

SIGMA LODGE NO. 9204 EC DEMONSTRATES THE SPIRIT OF CHARITY WITH DONATION TO THE SICK PIKIN PROJECT

Freetown, Sierra Leone — 3 October 2026

In keeping with one of the fundamental principles of Freemasonry, Charity and Service to Humanity, the Brethren of Sigma Lodge No. 9204 EC have made a charitable donation to the Sick Pikin Project, in support of its work to provide assistance and care to sick and vulnerable children.

The presentation took place on Saturday, 3 October 2026, and brought together Brethren of Sigma Lodge and representatives of the Sick Pikin Project for an occasion centred on compassion, fellowship and service to the community.

The charitable donation was formally presented by the Worshipful Master of Sigma Lodge No. 9204 EC, WBro. Emmanuel Kargbo, on behalf of the Lodge and its Brethren.

The presentation reflected the Lodge's commitment to putting the principles of Freemasonry into practical action by extending support to those in need and contributing to worthy causes within the community.

An Expression of Masonic Charity

Freemasonry places great emphasis on the welfare of others. While Masons support one another as Brothers, the principles of the Craft extend beyond the Lodge, encouraging members to show kindness, compassion and practical support to those in need.

Charity in Freemasonry is therefore not simply about making financial contributions. It represents a commitment to relieving distress, supporting the vulnerable and contributing positively to society. It is an expression of the Masonic values of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

Through such initiatives, Masons seek to put their principles into practice by extending a helping hand to individuals, families and organisations working to improve the lives of others.

Welcoming the Brethren

The program was formally opened by the Director of Ceremonies of Sigma Lodge WBro. Pamford Beckley, who introduced the Brethren present and set the tone for the charitable engagement.

Speaking on behalf of Sigma Lodge, the Secretary, WBro. Melvin Davies, explained the significance of the donation and the principles that guide Freemasonry.

WBro. Davies noted that Freemasonry is founded on principles that encourage its members to become better men and to contribute positively to the communities in which they live. He explained that Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth remain central to the Masonic way of life, with Relief reflecting the responsibility to assist those experiencing hardship and distress.

He further emphasised that the donation to the Sick Pikin Project was an opportunity for Sigma Lodge to translate these principles into practical action.

“Charity is an important part of our Masonic life. It reminds us that the privileges we enjoy also carry responsibilities, the responsibility to help those who are less fortunate and to do what we can to relieve distress.”

Also speaking during the program was WBro. Conrad Sackey, who expressed appreciation to the Project Director for giving the Brethren the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Sick Pikin Project and to contribute to its cause.

He thanked the organisation for its commitment to supporting sick and vulnerable children and expressed the hope that the partnership between the Lodge and the project would encourage further acts of service and community support.

Sick Pikin Project Expresses Gratitude

Representing the Sick Pikin Project was its Project Director, Alice, who warmly thanked the Brethren of Sigma Lodge for the generous donation and for choosing to support the organisation's work.

She expressed appreciation for the concern shown by the Lodge towards sick children and acknowledged the importance of support from individuals and organisations in helping the project continue its work.

Her appreciation underscored the value of partnerships between community organisations and groups committed to humanitarian service.

Freemasonry in Action

The charitable engagement by Sigma Lodge No. 9204 EC demonstrates that the principles of Freemasonry are not confined to the Lodge room. They are intended to be reflected in the daily lives and actions of its members.
