Committee of General Purposes Visitation to Sick Companions

In keeping with the cherished principles of companionship, care, and mutual support, the Committee of General Purposes of the District recently undertook a meaningful visitation exercise to Companions who are currently unwell and unable to attend meetings.

The visitation was led by the Grand Superintendent, Most Excellent Emile Moses Charles Carr, who was accompanied by the Chairman of the Committee, Excellent Companion Morsh Robert, along with other dedicated Companions of the District. This initiative reflects the District’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no Companion feels forgotten or isolated during times of illness or difficulty.

A total of nine Companions were visited during this exercise. Each visit was marked by warmth, encouragement, and genuine brotherly concern. As part of the District’s gesture of goodwill and support, each Companion received a donation of 1,500 New Leones in vouchers, a token intended to provide some comfort and assistance during their period of recovery.

The presence of the Grand Superintendent brought immense joy and upliftment to the Companions visited. His words of encouragement, compassion, and reassurance deeply resonated with each recipient, reinforcing the strong bond that unites all Companions within the District. The accompanying Companions also shared kind sentiments, offering prayers, well wishes, and moral support, which collectively created moments of heartfelt connection and renewed hope.

The visits were not only acts of charity but powerful reminders of the living spirit of the Order demonstrating that beyond our convocations and ceremonies, true companionship is expressed through care, presence, and kindness.

The recipients of these visits were visibly touched and expressed profound gratitude for the District’s thoughtful gesture. Many conveyed how meaningful it was to be remembered and visited, especially during a time when they are unable to actively participate in meetings. The visits served as a great source of encouragement and upliftment to their spirits.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Excellent Companion Morsh Robert, expressed sincere appreciation to all who made the exercise a success. He extended special thanks to the Grand Superintendent and the District Grand Scribe Ezra for their leadership, guidance, and continued dedication to the welfare of the Companions. He further acknowledged the efforts of all visiting Companions whose presence and contributions made the exercise truly impactful.

This visitation exercise stands as a shining example of the values we uphold, care for one another, unity in times of need, and the strengthening of our fraternal bonds. It is hoped that such initiatives will continue to inspire greater participation and reinforce the spirit of compassion within the District.

The Annual Thanksgiving, Communion & Divine Service of Wilberforce Lodge No: 6432EC was a remarkable and spiritually uplifting occasion, held today Sunday, 22nd February 2026, at the Centenary Tabernacle W.A.M Church on Circular Road, Freetown. The sacred gathering brought together Brethren, church members, family, and well-wishers in gratitude to Almighty God for a successful Masonic year.

Representing the District Grand Master at the service was WBro. Winston Guilford Jonnah, who reverently read the Gospel lesson on behalf of the DGM. His participation reflected the strong bond between the Craft and the Christian faith, emphasizing humility, service, and thanksgiving.

The sermon, THE LION'S WISDOM, delivered powerfully by Bro. Rev. Michael Winston Kuti-George, centered on the theme:

SERVING IN STRENGTH, LEADING IN LOVE: The Mason's Call to Community, Peace and Harmony.

The message was both inspiring and reflective, highlighting key principles that resonate deeply within Freemasonry:

Managing differences with wisdom and dignity

Showing love and harmony in diversity

Living a life of brotherly love, relief, and truth

Through vivid illustrations and scriptural insight, the preacher reminded the Brethren that true strength is not in dominance, but in compassion; not in authority alone, but in service. The “lion’s wisdom” was portrayed as courage guided by humility and leadership shaped by love.

Special praise was showered upon Worshipful Brother Arthur Ben-Carew for his faithful stewardship during his administration. He was commended for leading the Lodge with dignity, grace, and unwavering commitment to Masonic values. His tenure was described as one marked by unity, growth, and purposeful service.

In a true spirit of charity and gratitude, the proceeds from the donation envelopes amounted to over Le10,000, (New Leones) which was generously presented to the church to support God’s work. This act of giving further demonstrated the Lodge’s dedication to relief and community support, extending Masonic principles beyond the Lodge room into the wider society.

The occasion concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by the Worshipful Master, who expressed sincere appreciation to the clergy, the District representation, visiting Brethren, church congregation, and all who contributed to the success of the service. He emphasized that the presence and unity displayed were a testament to the strength of the Fraternity and the blessings of fellowship.

Indeed, the Thanksgiving Service was not only a celebration of a completed administration but also a reaffirmation of Wilberforce Lodge’s commitment to faith, charity, peace, and harmony standing firm in strength, yet always leading in love.
