KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP, PT 4

*Account for Kingdom Stewardship*

What is required in kingdom stewardship is faithfulness. Every steward is required to be found faithful in his/her stewardship. Stewardship is a responsibility. A steward is an employee in charge. A steward is a manager or an oversee who is required to be found faithful. Therefore all stewards are going to give an account of their stewardship. Every steward will answer to God. Luke 16:1-2 *He also said to His disciples: There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. So he called him and said to him, What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.'*

Every steward (believer) will ONE DAY account for his/her stewardship. There is an appointed day when we all will answer to God. You will answer to Him what you used the gift He gave you for. It’ll be a similar account like the parable in Matthew 25. This is where the good or bad steward will be revealed, or the faithful or wicked steward. The good steward is the faithful steward as explained in last part of this series. The bad steward is one who did nothing with his gift just like the servant with the one talent. The bad steward also is one who misused his/gift by taking advantage of God’s flock, mistreating them. The bad steward is one who was unfaithful in the stewardship.

The good steward receives a reward on that day of account. He/she is rewarded for faithfulness. The bad steward receives nothing. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 *If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames*. There is a day when every believer will give an account of their stewardship, so work and serve the master faithful so that you will give an account worthy of a reward. *Jesus is glorified*

KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP, PT 3

*Kingdom Stewardship Requirement*

Every believer is a steward, hence every believer is perform his/her stewardship responsibilities. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 *Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy*. The requirement in kingdom stewardship is faithfulness. As a steward you must be found faithful. Let’s look at Matthew 25, where we have the parable of a master and his servants whom were given stewardship responsibilities. Two did what was required of them. Look at the comment of their master, Matthew 25:21 *His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'*

What does it mean to be faithful? It means to be trustworthy ie, to be reliable, to be responsible and to be trusted. It means that you can be trusted to handle responsibilities like how the servant with the 5 talents was trusted with more responsibilities. Faithfulness is that God can trust you with more responsibilities. To be trustworthy means to serve in the capacity you have been given. It is to do the work that has been given to you. Faithfulness is to use the gift that God has given you to serve one another, to be used by God in building His church.

Have you been a faithful steward? Have you been doing what has been committed to your stewardship? Have you been preaching to the lost? Have you been caring for the flock of God, using the gift you have received from God to serve one another? Are you the steward with the 5 talents or the one with the 1 talent? God cares about His Church, His most valuable possession and He has entrusted us stewards over it? Are you trustworthy? Are you serving? What are you doing in the kingdom? Are you doing something in your local assembly? Do you perform task assigned to you. Are you faithful in the capacity you serve. The requirement for stewardship is faithfulness and as a steward you should be found faithful. *Jesus is glorified*

KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP, PT 2

*What is Kingdom Stewardship?*

With the background to kingdom stewardship established, what therefore is kingdom stewardship? Kingdom stewardship is the careful and responsible administration of God’s gift and His Church that has been entrusted into the care of every believer. 1 Peter 4:10 *As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God*. The word steward is the Greek ‘oikonomos’ which means a manager or overseer, one employed in that capacity. Every believer is a steward, as all have received God’s gift useful for ministry and serving the church. The great commission is for all believers.

The ministry of reconciliation is for the reconciled. 2 Corinthians 5:18&20 *Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God*. Every believer has been called to serve in that capacity. God has entrusted His most valued and priced possession in the care of every believer. We have been called to serve one another in the church. We are many members of one body with each having its role in the body.

We are not just servants or laborers but stewards. We are not just doing any kind of work but rather we have been employed to care for God’s possession. We are stewards in the kingdom. We preach the good news to the lost and we care for the flock of God. We all have different roles in the body but one agenda and purpose. So whatever capacity you serve in the body do it carefully, responsibly and faithfully. There is no work in this world more important than this. Kingdom stewardship is working for God. God is our employer. But this is another reality; *every believer is a steward but not every believer is a functioning steward*. Not every believer is doing the work given to him/her. We will address this in the next part. Think on these things. *Jesus is glorified*

KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP, PT 1

*Background to Kingdom Stewardship*

To understand kingdom stewardship we must first understand what the word stewardship means. Stewardship means the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. When discussing stewardship we discuss the management or overseeing of something placed in your possession. Key thing to note; you are not the owner, you are a steward or a manager. This means you will be answerable to the owner to give an account of your stewardship. With this understanding, let us have the background to kingdom stewardship. God cares about men, His creation. The words we see from scripture is ‘God so love the world’. The world here cosmos in Greek means the human race.

God’s love for man resulted in not just His desire for men to be saved but much in laying His life down as the propitiation for their sins. We were told in 2 Corinthians that God in Christ is reconciling men unto Himself. God’s care for men is that they repent and are saved and being transformed. God is mindful of man. He loves man. He subjected the world to man and gave dominion to man. If you want to discuss God’s delight, it is man. God wants the lost saved. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. Heaven rejoices when a soul is won. God wants His sheep taken care of, fed and protected. It mattered to God for the fact that God became man, a creature lower by nature in the cadre compared to the angels.

We see the Lord when He was about to ascend spoke the desire of His heart which is to preach the gospel to all creatures, making disciples of all nations and feeding the sheep. The church is God’s possession and the bride of Christ. And the church is what God has entrusted to every believer to serve and be served. Acts 20:28 *Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood*. In addition to this God has given every believer a gift to serve the church. This is exactly God’s possession that has been left in the care of every believer to manage. We’ll look at what exactly Kingdom Stewardship is in the next part. Do read and meditate on this and share it. *Jesus is glorified*

PRIORITIZE YOUR WALK WITH GOD

The Lord Jesus before embarking on ministerial duty retreat to a solitary place to pray. Mark 1:35 - *Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed*. After ministerial work, the same Jesus would separate Himself from His disciples to spend time with the Father in prayer. Mark 6:46 - *And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray*. When the church was threatened, they didn't fight back or went about grumbling, they withdrew to that place of prayer. Acts 4:24 - *Then all the believers were united as they lifted their voices in prayer...* There was an understanding of the essence of walking with God in prayer for the work of God to have full effect.

Your walk with God should always supercede your work for Him. Ministerial work involves less of the physical, hence, an attempt to do it in the flesh might lead to burnout. The work is spiritual and should be done in the spirit. Every proceedings of the believer is an overflow of his spiritual walk with God. Ministry and Christian living are overflow of a constant walk with God. This is why the believer that's struggling with his walk with God will always find it difficult to work effectively in the kingdom and will struggle to live as he ought.

We were given instructions to fellowship in prayer, shown examples of men that prayed, not because someone just wanted it to be written. These things were written to aid our effectiveness in the kingdom. The Lord Jesus gave a parable to encourage consistency in prayer, Luke 18:1 - Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up). Apostle Paul said, 1Thessalonians 5:17 - *Pray without ceasing*. Your walk with God is paramount dear believer, it's out of it the desire to work for Him springs. Prioritize walking with God in fellowship via spending time with the word and praying. *Jesus is glorified*

JESUS IS ABLE TO SAVE YOU

Salvation is the Lord's! Man cannot save himself and he contributes nothing. Jesus said, Matthew 19:26 *But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”*. Salvation is a gift. Salvation is all God and none of man, *Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast*. Man is dead in trespasses and sin, and can’t do anything about it.

Jesus did something about it. He saved us because of how much He loves us. He died so that we will be made alive. And He lives on making intercessions for us. Hebrews 7:25 *Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them*. Jesus does not need your help now in salvation. He didn't need it before, and He does not need it now. For He that has started the good work in you will surely complete it. *Are you a sinner? Do you think your sin is to big for God to save you? Do you feel hopeless? All you need is Jesus*. Come repenting of your sin and put faith in Jesus, for He is able to save you. He will forgive your sins, wash them clean and adopt you into His family.

Christ is able to keep you and present you before Himself on the final day, Jude 1:24 *Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy*. Christ is the sole orchestrator in the work of salvation. He is the author and finisher/perfecter. Every good work you produce is a result and fruit of your salvation. *It is the work of salvation and not work for salvation*. We thank God Almighty who has saved us through Jesus Christ. A dead man is now alive, a lost man is now found, a blind man has received sight. Glory to Jesus who has saved me(you). *Jesus is glorified*
