MAP Visits Maforki and Bakeloko Chiefs: Building Partnerships for Community Growth!
At Mobilize Against Poverty (MAP), we know that real change starts with the people who hold the trust of their communities. That’s why our team recently visited the Paramount Chief (PC) of Maforki and the Regent Chief of Bakeloko Chiefdoms to strengthen partnerships and discuss plans for development.
The PC of Maforki, along with his wife, warmly welcomed us and pledged to support MAP’s goals. Maforki, being one of the largest chiefdoms with 20 section chiefs, poses some challenges for gatherings, and the PC shared thoughtful advice on logistics. He also reminded us that MAP’s office space is a gift from the Gberay Morie community and urged us to avoid rental costs, keeping our focus on community development.
In Bakeloko, the Regent Chief expressed heartfelt gratitude for MAP’s visit, noting that no other organization had shown such respect for traditional leaders. Bakeloko has 10 sections, and the Regent Chief promised to work closely with us to coordinate a meeting with all section chiefs.
These visits were filled with warmth, wisdom, and shared commitment to making a difference. We’re excited to collaborate with these incredible leaders to bring hope and development to Maforki, Bakeloko, and beyond!
Stay tuned as we continue this journey of empowerment and progress!

MAP Visits Port Loko District Council: Building Stronger Partnerships for Community Growth!
On November 6, 2024, the Mobilize Against Poverty (MAP) team, led by the inspiring Kadiatu Mangai, visited the Port Loko District Council (PLDC) for a familiarization meeting. This visit was all about fostering collaboration and strengthening ties with local authorities to create lasting change in our communities.
Kadiatu passionately shared MAP’s vision and commitment to empowering underserved areas, while Mrs. Mansaray highlighted our target Chiefdoms, including Tainkatopa, Makama, Bakeloko, Maforki, and Marampa.
The Council Administrator warmly welcomed us, expressing gratitude for our visit, and the District Council Chairman, Mr. Saccoh, praised MAP's efforts. He encouraged us to consider Kasseh as a target area, highlighting its urgent need for development. He also suggested formalizing our partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to streamline support and collaboration.
Mr. Saccoh’s heartfelt advice to conduct a community needs assessment using questionnaires reminded us of the importance of listening to the people we serve. He also encouraged MAP to develop a five-year strategic plan to guide our work and maximize impact.
As the meeting wrapped up, Mr. Kamara expressed MAP’s gratitude for the council’s warm reception and invaluable guidance. This meeting has further strengthened our resolve to bring meaningful change to the communities of Port Loko. Together, we’re building a brighter future!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey of empowerment and growth!
