Restoring hope through justice and rehabilitation.
Hope Behind Bars Sierra Leone was founded by Sheku Kamara, inspired by lived incarceration experience. Supporting inmates like Abu Kamara (12+ years detained) toward freedom and dignity.
Today, we officially introduce Hope Behind Bars Sierra Leone.
This initiative was born out of Mr Sheku Kamara experience — his time spent within the correctional system opened his eyes to the harsh realities many inmates face: delayed justice, prolonged detention, and little to no opportunity for rehabilitation.
This organization was found with one mission — to restore hope where it is often forgotten.
Our work focuses on two key areas:
🔹 Legal assistance for inmates facing wrongful or prolonged detention.
🔹 Rehabilitation support to prepare inmates for a better future.
Our journey has already begun to make an impact.
We are proud to have supported the release of our first beneficiary, Abu Kamara, who spent over 12 years in prison. His freedom is a reminder that justice, though delayed, must never be denied.
This is just the beginning.
We call on government institutions, partners, and the public to join us in building a fairer and more humane correctional system in Sierra Leone.
Because everyone deserves a second chance.
