On the 11th and 12th December 2025, MARWOPNET in partnership with UN Women and with funds from Irish Aid has ended a one day training for SGBV Monitors and Opened a Women's Peace Centre in Koindu, Kissi Teng Chief, Kailahun District to support the fight against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) affecting women and girls in the district and neighbouring areas.

The Mano River Women’s Peace Network (MARWOPNET), with support from UN Women, UNDP, and World Vision through the UN Peacebuilding Fund, has successfully trained 40 members of the Women-Focused CSO Coalition in Freetown and Makeni! πŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ’¬

Among the lead trainers was IMdev’s Chief Executive Officer, Lolo Yeama Sarah Thompson-Oguamah, who delivered powerful sessions on strategic advocacy, reporting, and community-level peacebuilding.

Other expert trainers including Rosaline McCarthy, Marian Samu, and Foday Momoh Kanu engaged participants on conflict analysis, mediation, and leadership for peace. πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Sub-regional Vice President of the Mano River Women's Peace Network, , Hannah Mallah, reminded everyone: β€œWe are nurturing a generation of women peacebuilders who will carry forward the values of inclusion, security, and cohesion in every corner of Sierra Leone.” πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡±

🌍 Districts reached: Karene, Bombali, Kono, Pujehun, Western Area Rural & Urban.
πŸ“Œ Focus areas: SiLNAP III, SDGs 5 & 16, national cohesion, and women’s participation in peace processes.
