Pikin-To-Pikin Movement

Pikin-To-Pikin Movement Pikin-To-Pikin Movement is a Child Centered National NGO that works to promote the welfare of children. As a result, these children missed out on education.

Our thematic areas include child protection, education, health and nutrition, WASH and Institutional Capacity Development Our history
Pikin-To-Pikin Movement was formed in 1994 when Sierra Leone was engulfed by a devastating rebel war. The organisation was legally registered as a Non-Governmental Organisation in 1998 with the Government of Sierra Leone, under the Ministry Of Development and Econo

mic Planning. During the war, the rights of children were grossly violated. Many children were forcefully conscribed into the fighting forces: the national army, the rebel forces or the civil militia. Many children also died because of preventable childhood diseases such as diarrhoea. The situation in Sierra Leone for many years was such that there was very little protection for children. It was in a bid to salvage the situation of children that Pikin-To-Pikin Movement was formed. Who we are
We are a child-centered community development organisation based in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The name “Pikin-To-Pikin” is a lingua franca translation of “Child-to-Child.” We aim to use child-to-child methodologies in our activities, enabling children to step forward not only to teach their peers but also their families and communities.

The Annual Inception Meeting was convened by the Pikin-To-Pikin Movement from 27–28 January 2026 to align stakeholders on priorities, targets, and operational plans for the year. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the previous year’s performance, reflect on lessons learned, and validate the annual work plan and budget. Roles and responsibilities were clarified, monitoring and reporting timelines were confirmed, and potential risks were discussed, with corresponding mitigation measures agreed upon. The session ensured a shared understanding among project staff, strengthened coordination, and set a clear direction for effective implementation throughout the year.
