International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone (IAHSL) proudly joins young people, youth organizations, governments, civil society, development partners, and communities around the world in commemorating International Youth Day 2026.
Today, 12 August, we celebrate the energy, creativity, resilience, leadership, and potential of young people. International Youth Day is an opportunity to recognize that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow—they are leaders, innovators, advocates, and changemakers today.
As an organization committed to promoting the health, rights, well-being, and empowerment of adolescents and young people in Sierra Leone, IAHSL remains dedicated to creating opportunities where young people can participate meaningfully in decisions that affect their lives and communities.
We believe that every young person deserves access to quality health information and services, education, protection, opportunities for leadership, and a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.
On this special occasion, Amb. Joseph Solomon Koroma, Executive Director of International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone, calls on young people across Sierra Leone to believe in themselves, develop their talents, stand together, and become positive agents of change in their communities.
“Young people are not simply the future of Sierra Leone; they are the strength and leadership of Sierra Leone today. When we invest in young people, we invest in a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous nation.”
IAHSL also recognizes the contributions of young people working in adolescent health, climate action, education, gender equality, community development, peacebuilding, innovation, and national development.
As we join the world in celebrating International Youth Day, let us renew our commitment to empowering young people, protecting their rights, promoting their health, amplifying their voices, and creating meaningful opportunities for their participation in

WORLD HEPATITIS DAY – 28 JULY 2026
Theme: Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down
Today, International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone (IAHSL) joins the global community in commemorating World Hepatitis Day. This important day reminds us that hepatitis remains a major public health challenge, but it is preventable, detectable, and treatable.
We encourage everyone, especially young people, to learn about hepatitis, get vaccinated where available, practice healthy behaviors, and get tested early. Early diagnosis and timely treatment can save lives, prevent liver disease, and help eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat.
Let us work together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and ensure that everyone has access to the information and healthcare services they need.
Know It. Prevent It. Test It. Treat It.
Together, we can build a healthier future and achieve a hepatitis-free generation.

June 16 Feeding Program for the Less Privileged and Children Living with Disabilities in Bo

Today, June 16, we successfully carried out a feeding program dedicated to supporting the less privileged and children living with disabilities in Bo. This humanitarian initiative was aimed at bringing hope, joy, and care to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

We are deeply grateful for the generous support and commitment of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, whose contribution made this meaningful event possible. His support demonstrates a strong commitment to community development, inclusion, and the welfare of disadvantaged individuals.

The smiles on the faces of the children and beneficiaries remind us that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in people's lives. Together, we continue to promote compassion, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the success of this program. May we continue to work together to build a more caring and inclusive society.

Our District Focal Point for Bombali District successfully concluded a 3-day Girls Act Conference in Makeni as part of this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Campaign.
The conference brought together young girls, advocates, and community stakeholders to discuss menstrual hygiene, girls’ empowerment, health education, and the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation. Through interactive sessions, awareness activities, and mentorship, participants were empowered with knowledge and confidence to promote healthy menstrual practices in their schools and communities.
Together, we continue to advocate for dignity, education, and equal opportunities for every girl.
