INTERNATIONAL ADOLESCENT HEALTH SIERRA LEONE
Commemorates World Menstrual Hygiene Day
28th May 2026
Theme: : Together for a Period-Friendly World
Today, International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone proudly joins the global community in celebrating World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026. This important day reminds us that menstrual health and hygiene are essential to the dignity, confidence, education, and wellbeing of every girl and woman.
As we observe this year’s global theme, “ : Together for a Period-Friendly World,” we call on communities, schools, leaders, parents, and young people to break the silence, end stigma, and create safe spaces where menstruation is discussed openly and managed with dignity.
Under the leadership of Madam Mammy Yeabu Kabia, National Director of International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone, we remain committed to empowering adolescent girls through education, advocacy, awareness raising, and access to proper menstrual hygiene support.
Menstruation is natural, and no girl should miss school, lose confidence, or face discrimination because of her period. Together, we can build a future where every adolescent girl manages her menstruation safely, confidently, and without shame.
Let us educate.
Let us support.
Let us empower.
Let us act.
Happy World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026.

WORLD HAND HYGIENE DAY 2026
International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone
On 5th May 2026, International Adolescent Health Sierra Leone proudly joins the global community in celebrating World Hand Hygiene Day, a vital initiative aimed at promoting proper handwashing practices and improving public health outcomes.
This year’s theme, “Clean Hands, Safe Lives – Empowering Youth Through Hygiene,” highlights the critical role young people play in preventing the spread of infections through simple but effective hygiene practices. Hand hygiene remains one of the most affordable and powerful ways to reduce disease transmission and save lives.
As an organization committed to the wellbeing of adolescents and young people, we are using this opportunity to raise awareness, educate communities, and encourage positive behavioral change. Through engaging activities such as handwashing demonstrations, health education sessions, and community outreach, we aim to empower youth with the knowledge and skills needed to protect themselves and others.
We call on everyone—young people, community leaders, and stakeholders—to take part in this important movement. Together, we can build healthier communities by making clean hands a daily habit.
Clean hands save lives. Let’s act today for a healthier tomorrow.
