Breaking News‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️YES-SL Empowers Orphanage Children in Bo with Soap-Making Skills
Bo, Sierra Leone | Saturday, 16th August 2025 | In a bid to empower underprivileged teenagers and youths, Youth Ethical Support Sierra Leone (YES-SL) has conducted a practical soap-making skills training for children at the Hope Emmanuel Orphanage, located in the Kebbie Town Section of Bo City. The training took place over the past weekend and is part of the organization’s broader commitment to uplifting vulnerable children and youths across the country.
Speaking during the training, Margaret Mansaray, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of YES-SL, stated that the goal of her organization is to empower less privileged and often neglected teenagers and youths, particularly those residing in juvenile homes, orphanages, and disadvantaged communities. She noted that YES-SL aims to support these individuals to become self-reliant, independent, and enterprising citizens, regardless of their current social or economic circumstances.
“This soap-making training is just one of the many interventions we have carried out,” she said. “We have also been providing feeding, clothing, and bedding support to our target beneficiaries in both Freetown and Bo. Our mission is to restore hope and create opportunities for those whom society often forgets.”
Margaret further stated that, the organization has plans to expand its reach to more youths and teenagers through additional initiatives, including ICT and technological training programs, but pointed to financial constraints as a major hurdle.
“We are passionate about what we do, but limited resources remain a key challenge. That is why we are calling on philanthropists, development partners, and like-minded organizations to support our work,” she appealed. “Whether it’s through financial donations, material resources, technical training, or even moral support, every form of assistance will go a long way in helping us touch more lives.”
The training session at the Hope Emmanuel Orphanage was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from the participating children. Several of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the knowledge gained, describing the training as both empowering and inspiring.
“We are very happy and thankful to Aunty Margaret and YES-SL,” said two of the participants. “We have learned something useful, and we are going to make good use of it. We will teach others and use the skills to help ourselves in the future.”
As YES-SL continues to deliver impactful programs in Sierra Leone, the organization’s hands-on, grassroots approach remains a beacon of hope for marginalized youths, promoting skill development, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future for those most in need.
