Yesterday, the National women’s Conference 2025 was held bringing together high-profile women and men. The theme"Bridging the gap: from gender commitment to economic justice" emphasizes need for concrete actions to address the economic disparities and inequalities faced by women. It's about moving beyond just making promises or commitments to gender equality, to actually implementing policies and practices that promote economic justice and empowerment of women.
As a member of the 50/50 group SL. Having gone through the program that we were to reflect, assess the impact of the rice tax regime on farmers and the ordinary women from the report outlined by us and to suggest strategies that can accelerate Economic Empowerment and Justice for women in Sierra Leone. I simply suggest we not only strive to have more women in governance and leadership positions but also prioritize the strategic placement of driven, purposeful, fearless and committed women that will make positive impact. This approach will ensure our voices are heard and valued.

All thanks to aunty Melrose and aunty Leanne of Melrose ParisFoundation from United Kingdom for such generous visit to Sierra Leone to meet with a across section of the members of Mama’s Penny Organization. The meeting was quite fruitful and relevant coz we discussed a lot for the betterment of the organization. We were given the sum of NLe 5,000, a sewing machine and some pieces of furniture for our office. And lo and behold, they promised to boost our agricultural program by giving us a garrie processing machine by the special grace of God. 🙏🏾 I must say I am thrilled for our(Mama’s Penny organization) dream is surely coming true.🙏🏾

These are the cassava tubers we harvested from Mama’s Penny farmland we cultivated last year. All praises to God we were able to harvest such huge piles of cassava tubers from the pilot phase of our self funded project. And the harvest was only done on half of the 2 acres of the land prepared and the remaining cassava will be harvested next month when proper arrangements would have been made to transport them to town. I was not actually expecting this huge yield from this small project of ours and most especially when the planting phase was delayed. So I am dearly pleading with you if at all you get hold of a project that will help to get a garrie processing machine for an advanced technology is sure of increasing productivity which will enhance the economic growth of mama Salone. Thank you.
