CASE Salone is proud to have represented Sierra Leone at the African Youth Leaders Training on To***co Industry Interference, held in Lagos, Nigeria, from 27–31 July 2026.

Represented by Ibrahim Mansaray, Youth and Economic Empowerment Officer, CASE Salone joined youth leaders, researchers, and public health advocates from across Africa to strengthen efforts to counter to***co industry interference and promote healthier communities.

The training highlighted a critical reality: to***co is often the first step on the pathway to substance abuse, making the protection of young people from harmful industry tactics more urgent than ever. Participants gained practical skills to monitor industry interference, support evidence-based advocacy, and advance the implementation of WHO FCTC Article 5.3.

Inspired by the training, CASE Salone is committed to integrating these lessons into its Youth and Economic Empowerment Initiative by empowering young people to identify and report to***co industry interference, supporting the enforcement of Sierra Leone's To***co and Ni****ne Act 2022, and raising awareness about the link between to***co use and the wider drug crisis.

At CASE Salone, we believe sustainable development begins when communities are empowered with the knowledge, skills, and resources to shape their own future. Through our Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) program under the Bamba-Wi Initiative, we are creating opportunities that strengthen women's financial resilience, enabling them to grow their businesses, support their families, and invest in their children's education.

To strengthen the impact and sustainability of this initiative, we brought together community VSLA coordinators for a one-day capacity-building training under the theme: "Strengthening Economic Empowerment of Rural Communities through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA)."

The training aimed at equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills in savings mobilization, loan management, leadership, accountability, and financial record-keeping as essential pillars for effective and transparent VSLA management.

At the end of the training, participants were better prepared and motivated to apply these lessons within their respective communities, strengthening local VSLA's and contributing to greater economic empowerment and sustainable community development.

Women's economic empowerment is at the heart of our mission to support women, particularly low-income earners who are engaged in petty trading or small scale farming.

Today, 17 July 2026, CASE Salone, through its Bamba-Wi VSLA initiative a reliable model that strengthens women's financial capacity and empowers them to invest in both their businesses and their children's education, provided seed capital to beneficiary women in Bo, to support them expand their businesses and increase their financial independence.

This ongoing support is intended to promote women engaged in small-scale businesses and farming to enable them support their children's education particularly their girl child, which will further increase the retention of girls in school and contribute to their well-being. It also enhances financial capacity of women through training and entrepreneurship skills, thereby dignifying them and freeing them from financial burden.

This informs us that investing in the economic empowerment of women is a powerful way to support the education and well-being of their children. Consequently, this enables them to break the cycle of poverty, thereby reducing dependency and domestic violence.

The Day of the African Child, observed every year on June 16th, is a day to honor the resilience of children and reflect on the progress made in ensuring their rights, and well-being across Africa. As an organization committed to empowering children and young people, we were delighted to be represented by one of our outstanding Adolescent Girls, Ruth I Senesi, at the commemoration of the Day of the African Child organized by the Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs in collaboration with CASE Salone.

Ruth served as a panelist during the event, where she confidently and eloquently contributed to discussions on this year's theme"Access to Universal Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa". Drawing from her experiences and perspective as a young advocate, she highlighted the importance of ensuring access to safe, adequate, and effective Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in schools, emphasizing their critical role in promoting children's health, dignity, and educational outcomes.

Beyond the panel discussion, Ruth also showcased her talent and passion by playing a key role in a drama skit presented during the celebration, helping to amplify important messages about children's rights and well-being

We are incredibly proud of Ruth for representing CASE Salone with excellence and demonstrating the power of young people to influence conversations that shape their future. Her participation reflects our continued commitment to creating platforms where adolescent voices are heard, valued, and empowered to drive positive change.

CASE SALONE OBSERVES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026: YOUTH LEADING THE CHARGE FOR A CLEANER BO CITY ♻️🌍

Center for Advocacy and Sustainable Empowerment (CASE SALONE), in partnership with Aspire! Youth Empowerment and Innovation Hub (A!YEIH), Green Leone, FAIECY SL, ACRG, Global Platform Sierra Leone, and the Environmental Support Network (ESN), successfully led the climax of World Environment Day 2026 with a high-energy street sensitisation campaign across Bo City.

The march kicked off at the Clock Tower and moved through Dambala Road, Fenton Road, Bojon Street, and Central Police area, ending at the Aspire Hub. With placards, megaphones, and bold environmental messages, youth champions from CASE SALONE and partners engaged traders, drivers, business owners, pupils, and residents on proper waste management, environmental duty, and climate justice.

Along the route, participants highlighted key challenges facing Bo City: illegal dumping, clogged drains, seasonal flooding, polluted waterways, and rising climate risks. CASE SALONE and the coalition urged citizens to take responsibility for waste and called on authorities to invest in systems that protect both the environment and public health.

This campaign reinforced one core message: protecting our environment is everyone’s duty It also spotlighted youth as the driving force for grassroots change, with CASE SALONE at the forefront, mobilizing communities and turning awareness into action.

Reflecting on this year’s theme “Inspired by Nature. For our Climate. For our Future,” CASE SALONE recognizes that safeguarding nature is more than an environmental task. It’s an investment in healthier families, safer streets, cleaner water, less flooding, and long-term prosperity for Bo City.

Together, we’re building a Bo City where caring for the environment becomes daily practice.

May 28 marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day a moment to emphasize that menstrual health is a vital part of the physical, mental, and social well-being of women and girls. It is also an opportunity to promote safe menstrual care, break the stigma around menstruation, and raise awareness about the challenges faced by those without access to menstrual products and proper hygiene support.

In commemoration of this day, CASE Salone is proud to officially launch its Reusable Menstrual Pads Production Training Program for adolescents and young women.

This initiative seeks to empower over 100 girls and young women with practical skills in the production of reusable menstrual pads while promoting menstrual health awareness, dignity, confidence, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.

Menstrual hygiene remains a major challenge for many adolescents, especially young girls who struggle to access affordable and safe menstrual products. Through this training program, CASE Salone seeks to address period poverty by equipping participants with hands on knowledge and practical skills to produce reusable menstrual pads that are affordable, hygienic, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

The training will provide participants with:

Practical skills in reusable menstrual pads production.
Menstrual health and hygiene education.
Opportunities for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
Increased awareness on reproductive health and personal wellbeing.
A platform to promote confidence and break menstrual stigma within communities.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment, to creating a future where every girl can manage her menstruation with dignity, remain in school confidently, and participate fully in society without shame or limitation.

Together, we can end period poverty and build healthier, empowered communities for our Adolescent Girls and Women.
