Njala ENABLE Aquaculture Update

Another successful fish sorting exercise has been completed at the Njala ENABLE Aquaculture Component. During the exercise, fish weighing 400 grams and above were carefully sorted and transferred to the outgrowing pond to allow them to continue growing under suitable conditions.

This is an important stage as the fish are now approaching market size, and preparations are underway to commence harvesting and sales to the market. The activity demonstrates the continued progress of the aquaculture component from production and management through to commercialization.

With proper feeding, monitoring, and management, we look forward to bringing quality, locally produced fish to consumers while generating revenue to support the sustainability and growth of the Njala ENABLE Centre.

Strengthening Management, Driving Growth at Njala ENABLE Center

As we continue our efforts to upgrade the working conditions and operational capacity of the Njala Enable Youth Incubation Training Centre, we recently held a comprehensive management meeting involving heads of all operational components.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share progress updates, identify key challenges, explore emerging business opportunities, and develop practical strategies and solutions for improved performance across all units. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration, accountability, innovation, and resource management while ensuring that every component contributes meaningfully to the Centre’s overall objectives.

Frequent management meetings have become an important part of our routine, enabling us to assess progress, respond to challenges, and make informed decisions. Together, we remain committed to building a stronger, more productive, and sustainable Njala ENABLE Centre.

Today marks 14 days since our chicks arrived in the brooding house, and we are excited to see how much stronger, healthier, and more active they have become. Through proper brooding, quality feeding, clean water, and close daily monitoring, they are growing exactly as expected. They are now preparing for the next stage of their journey as they will soon be dispatched to their various poultry houses. At Njala Enable Agricultural Youth Incubation Training Centre, we remain committed to best poultry management practices that ensure healthy birds and successful production. The future of our flock is looking bright!

At Njala Enable Center, we believe that capacity building is the foundation of sustainable agricultural development. Today, our Poultry Value Chain Officer, Mr. Cawry, is conducting a practical training session for our newly hired poultry attendants and interested Enable Center staff.

The training focuses on essential poultry management practices, including proper record keeping, vaccination and medication schedules, feeding, biosecurity, and overall flock management.

Through equipping our team with the right knowledge and practical skills, we are strengthening our commitment to excellence, productivity, and the development of a skilled workforce that will drive the growth of Sierra Leone's poultry sector.

We were honored to welcome the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, to the Njala Enable Center during an unannounced visit to observe our ongoing activities and progress. The Minister interacted with our team, toured our facilities, and expressed interest in the work we are doing to promote agribusiness, youth empowerment, and agricultural innovation.

His visit is a great encouragement to us and reinforces our commitment to supporting sustainable agricultural development in Sierra Leone. We sincerely appreciate his time, support, and confidence in our mission.
