🌍✨ Climate Storytelling Spotlight: Our favourite examples ✨🌍

Ever noticed how not just sci-fi, but animation and drama can all mirror our climate realities? And how the content we consume affects our minds? Well, how about we used the power of content to inspire climate action?

Ivan's favourite episode of Black Mirror: "Hated in the Nation" shows dark themes of technology, public opinion, and ecological consequences that resonate deeply with SDG 15: Life on Land.

Valentína's favourite animated masterpiece "Princess Mononoke" shows a powerful narrative of the clash between humans and nature, embodying the struggle for SDG 15: Life on Land and SDG 13: Climate Action. The film’s deep ecological message reminds us of the importance of harmony between humans and the natural world.

And Zuzka's favourite show "Snowpiercer" (a cult film turned into a series) brings a gripping tale of survival on a train in a frozen world, highlighting SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities and SDG 13: Climate Action, based around the stark realities of climate change and social inequality.

Tell us! We’re creating a Slovak–Czech handbook on climate storytelling for audiovisual education, and we’re looking for local examples.

We’re searching for Slovak or Czech films, series, or TV formats where climate or environmental themes are part of the story — not just the background.

The handbook will: explain what climate storytelling is show how it works in practice feature strong SK, CZ & international examples

🌍 Climate Stories in Bratislava – highlights from our last event 🎬

Slovakia’s first workshop on Climate Storytelling in audiovisual media at Kino Lumière during the film festival Filmový festival Jeden svet brought together students, filmmakers, producers, and creatives from various fields.

✨ What made the day special?
• a diverse mix of live-action, TV, documentary, and animation voices
• hands-on exercises shaping powerful climate story ideas
• inspiring discussions and new connections between creativity & sustainability

We are a small, dedicated team working to shift the narrative from fear and paralysis to realism and action. We believe climate change conversations can be honest, grounded, and empowering - and that stories matter in how we move forward.

🌱 Zuzana Bieliková Zuzi Bielikova
Co-founder, Strategic Partnerships Manager
An internationally certified specialist in green film production. Zuzana focuses on setting greener standards in film and animation and manages national and international partnerships that help turn ideas into real impact.

🎬 Valentína Hučková
Co-founder, Project and Funding Manager
A seasoned manager with extensive experience in film production, marketing, and green filming. Valentína oversees fundraising and operations, making sure projects are both meaningful and sustainable.

📊 Ivan Lesay
Founder, Strategic Development Manager
An experienced executive with strong European expertise in public finance and green investments. Ivan leads the strategic development of Climate Stories and helps shape its long-term direction.
