My family has been getting fresh organic produce from Quan Fa since 2008 through their stockist .
So when I decided to start LINS Smoodees in Dec 2010, naturally my choice supplier was Quanfa Organic owned by the Liao family!
I fondly remember the times when we had raw food private dinings on the farm back in 2010 and the warm interactions with the farmers, helpers and doggies whenever we make a personal trip down to connect with the source and land. It was a weekly ritual, self-collecting fresh produce until our order grew to a sizeable volume and Uncle would deliver them straight to our kitchens.
Sadly in 2019, Quanfa had to move a 3rd time as the government has again more plans for land development. Up until 2018 I was still able to get up to 95% of my greens locally grown by them but gradually over time, coupled with the shortage of necessary manpower (and rising costs), that number dwindled down to just about 5%.
Although I was bitten by the wanderlust bug in 2018, I made the call to close it out in Singapore and start making plans to move LINS Smoodees to Thailand because it is no longer fitting the core of the LINS Smoodees values. Which is not just about zero-waste and fresh daily but to also consume locally grown produce. As it was, the fruits that we used were imported from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Australia, New Zealand and on rare occasions, US, South Africa, Spain and France. The least we must do is to have as much phytonutrients and highly perishables locally grown as possible.
Nonetheless, I am most heartened to see Quan Fa still evolving and growing with the changing space and times. They are still my choice supplier as they procure only from the most genuine farms who share the same integrity in their farming and production methods. AND, they are working hard to re-building the farm and I’m keeping an eye out to see what their farm of the future would look like!
Meanwhile, it is up to all of us to continue supporting our local farming heroes by consuming more locally grown produce.
So now, as you can guess, the next gift I have for you is from ! Read comments for details
