Congratulations, Sec-Gen Ng Chee Meng, on your appointment to Cabinet! ๐
At BATU, we've felt his presence directly, whether it's the cleaners keeping our buildings running, the construction crews working under the sun, the property management workers or the workers in the Built Environment holding up sectors that often go unseen. Sec-Gen Ng Chee Meng has never treated workers as an afterthought. He has pushed for their place at the table, and pushed hard.
This appointment into PM Lawrence Wong's Cabinet is more than a personal milestone. It tells every worker in the Built Environment sector that the Labour Movement's voice carries weight in the rooms where national policy gets decided โ rooms that shape wages, job security, and what "progress" actually means for the people doing the physical, often invisible work of building this country.
We've seen him listen to workers on the ground, and turn that into action. It matters even more now as the sector navigates technology, productivity demands, and the everyday pressures our members face.
"Dream. Dare. Do." isn't just his motto. It's been the standard he holds himself and the Labour Movement to. As he steps into Cabinet, BATU stands with him, and we look forward to continuing the work of making sure Built Environment workers, especially our lower-wage members, are never left behind.
Congratulations, Sec-Gen! โฅ๏ธ
