Our first club meeting in May was chaired by President-Elect Tung, with Past President James as our guest speaker. He shared valuable insights on Rotary Foundation Global Grants and guided our members through key initiatives.
We also took time to celebrate the birthdays and wedding anniversary of our fellow members—always a wonderful way to strengthen our fellowship.
Adding a special touch to the evening, President Tung arranged for a tailor to be present, offering custom-made suits and pants for members in preparation for the new Rotary year.

我们五月的第一次例会由候任社长Tung主持，并邀请了前社长James担任嘉宾讲者。他为社友们讲解了扶轮基金全球奖助金（Global Grants）的相关计划与重点，让大家受益良多。
当晚我们也一同庆祝了社友们的生日及结婚纪念日，增进了彼此之间的情谊。
此外，Tung候任社长还特别邀请了一位裁缝师到场，为社友们量身订制西装与长裤，为即将到来的新扶轮年度做好准备。

The April Board of Directors–Elect meeting was graciously hosted by PN Benny, featuring an excellent selection of Chinese cuisine. The meeting was chaired by President-Elect Tung, who shared his vision and plans for the upcoming Rotary year with the Board.
Discussions also covered preparations for the Installation Dinner, which is scheduled for July 2026. The Board of Directors reaffirmed their commitment to delivering impactful and meaningful community service projects in the year ahead.

Our Club Meeting on March 17th, we had the honor of hosting Ms Lim Hai Yen as our guest speaker of the evening. She is the Artistic Director of The ETCeteras and also a columnist with the Chinese press.

Ms Lim's theatre career spanning close to 4 decades, she has created more than 40 original theatrical works. As an author, she has written and published 9 books.
She won several theatrical awards and awards from National University of Singapore.

During our club dinner meeting, Ms Lim shared with us her inspiring life experience through her ABC in Life - Avoid, Belief, Courage. She also shared insights from the two books she has authored and gave us a heartfelt glimpse into her love journey with her husband. She spoke candidly about how they have navigated challenges in their marriage with health conditions while balancing demanding careers, offering inspiration through their resilience, mutual support, and commitment.

In addition, we took time to celebrate our club members with March birthdays, making the session both meaningful and joyous.

於3月17日狮城扶轮社例会裡，我们很荣幸邀请到林海燕女士作为当晚的特邀嘉宾。她是“海燕等人” 剧团艺术总监兼新加坡中文报章的专栏作家。

林女士的戏剧生涯近四十年，创作了超过四十余部原创戏剧作品。作为一名作家，她個人著作并出版了九本书籍。她曾荣获戏剧奖项以及新加坡国立大学颁发的卓越校友奖。

在我社的例会晚宴上，林女士分享了她鼓舞人心的人生经历，并以“人生ABC”——“避免、信念、勇气”为主题，阐述了她的人生信条。她还分享了她所著两部作品的创作心得，并深情地讲述了她与夫婿的爱情故事。 她坦诚地讲述了他们如何在兼顾繁忙事业的同时，应对婚姻中和健康状况的种种挑战，他们的韧性、互相理解与扶持和彼此坚定承诺的可贵精神，令人深受启发和敬佩。

此外，我们也为三月份过生日的社友们庆生，使这次聚会既有意义又充满欢乐。

The Rotary Club of Garden City March Board-Elect Meeting was held at the beautiful The Regent Taipei in Taipei City, graciously hosted by President-Elect Tung.
The meeting agenda set the tone for the upcoming Rotary year 2026–2027. Board directors presented their respective budgets and outlined their goals and strategic plans, demonstrating a shared commitment to service, leadership, and community impact. The collaborative discussions reflected strong preparation and unity as the club moves confidently into the new Rotary year.

121ST ANNIVERSARY OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

Today, 23 February 2026, marked the 121st Anniversary of Rotary International . It also known as the World Understanding Peace Day ("WUPD") .

On February 23rd 1905, Rotary International was started by Paul Harris. Rotarians of the world celebrate this date every year as the Anniversary of Rotary.

For a century plus, Rotary members have created access to education, empowered communities, pushed polio to the brink of eradication and improved lives around the world.

Rotarians of Rotary District 3310 celebrated this special day at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Singapore which coincides with the 7th Day of Chinese New Year that it's also known as a day of everyone's birthday.

Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships.

Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.
