UNAS is honoured to be invited to the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Global Schools Group (GSG) Mock Conference of the Parties on 24 September 2024. This is a conference modelled from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties, during which student leaders from countries across Asia came together to discuss, negotiate and debate on climate change issues.

As the Guest of Honour, Assistant Secretary-General Mr Chevalie Brawijaya Rachmat delivered the inaugural speech to more than 200 students in the Multi-Purpose Hall, Global Indian International School (GIIS). He highlighted the fact that climate change affects certain groups of people disproportionately, and it has become a looming threat to our future generations. He also encouraged the student leaders to challenge assumptions regarding the climate impact, understanding different perspectives and fostering a culture of sustainability, so that they can influence the greater society and drive meaningful change.
