Vijayadaśamī – The Day of Divine Victory

Today, October 2nd, 2025, marks the festival of Vijayadaśamī, also known as Dussehra. It signifies the culmination of the sacred Navarātri celebrations, celebrating the triumph of good over evil.

It symbolises the eternal triumph of dharma over adharma, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. This blessed day is especially auspicious for beginning new studies, ventures, or spiritual practices, invoking the grace of the Divine Mother for success and fulfillment.

Amma’s Message
“Vijayadaśamī is the celebration of a remarkable victory. All of us have experienced different kinds of success in life — in studies, sports, the arts, or even in business. However, the greatest victory of all is the victory over our own mind. "Within us reside both demonic and divine forces. Vijayadaśamī is the celebration of the divine triumphing over the demonic — our higher nature overcoming the lower, and the realisation of our true divine essence. It is transcending the finite and realising the infinite. To achieve such a victory, we need the blessing of Parāśakti — the supreme transcendental force that governs the universe. This is why we worship Her as the Divine Mother, the embodiment of Prakṛti, Nature itself.”

Significance
On this day, we honour *our beloved Amma* with gratitude for guiding us with Her love, wisdom, and compassion. By following Amma’s teachings in daily life with sincerity and devotion, we align ourselves with the higher forces of dharma.

Dress Code
No festival is complete without dressing for the occasion. We encourage everyone to wear Indian ethnic attire — bright, festive, and joyous — and celebrate the spirit of Vijayadaśamī.

Colour of the Day
Colours enhance the festive experience, each carrying a symbolic meaning:
• Red: Power, passion, and victory
• Yellow: Happiness, positivity, and new beginnings
• Green: Growth, prosperity, and harmony
• Blue: Bravery and determination
• White: Purity and peace
• Orange: Energy and spirituality

Offerings
Anything that your heart desires as an offering to our beloved Amma.

Practice
Begin a new study, venture, or spiritual practice on this auspicious day, invoking Amma’s blessings for success and fulfilment.

Through these practices, Vijayadaśamī reminds us of the triumph of higher nature over lower tendencies, the victory of truth and dharma over ignorance and adharma, and the awakening of inner light and wisdom. Amma helps us overcome inner darkness, inspires faith, and guides us toward completeness, harmony, and spiritual fulfillment.

Programme Highlights

Morning (8:00 am)
We will gather for a short prayer and express gratitude for the successful completion of Navarātri. This will be followed by blessings for new undertakings, so that all efforts may be guided by wisdom, harmony, and Amma’s grace.

Evening (7:00 pm)
The community comes together to celebrate joyfully the 10 sacred days of Navarātri. The programme will include a short prayer, followed by cultural performances and group dancing, celebrating devotion, tradition, and unity.

Inspiration
Vijayadaśamī is a reminder that the victory of truth, dharma, and higher nature is always possible within us. May Amma’s guidance help us awaken our inner light, live in harmony, and celebrate the triumph of goodness and wisdom in all aspects of life.

Ōm namaḥ śivāya.

Today, Wednesday 1st October, we celebrate Āyudha Pūjā, a sacred day during Navarātri dedicated to the worship of tools, instruments, books, and vehicles—the very means that support our work, study, and daily life. By honouring them, we express gratitude to the Divine for empowering us with knowledge, skill, and livelihood.

Message from Amma
“As part of Navarātri, we keep our books and tools for worship. We receive Devī’s prasād on Vijayadaśamī and start the new year with an attitude of surrender. The seeker performs his actions, viewing himself as a nimittam—a tool—in the hands of God. This is why we keep our tools as an offering to God on this day. Those who work with spades and shovels offer those for worship and blessing. Those working with chisels offer those. All these tools are offered and then taken back after the worship. The act of doing this symbolizes that we should also become tools—just like a paintbrush or a pen—in God’s hands. It indicates a state wherein the notion of doership—the ego—vanishes. It is a state wherein we will definitely attain success.” ~

Deity of the Day
Āyudha Pūjā is especially associated with Goddess Sarasvatī, the embodiment of wisdom and learning. On this day, devotees place books, musical instruments, and work tools at the altar, seeking blessings for clarity, skill, and success in righteous action.

In Amma’s life, we see this teaching lived fully. Amma demonstrates that every act, no matter how ordinary, can be sacred when done with love and surrender.

How to Honour the Goddess
• Place your books, tools, or instruments before the altar for blessing
• Light a lamp and offer flowers with gratitude
• Chant: “Ōm Sarasvatyai Namaḥ”
• Dedicate your work and study as an offering to the Divine

Prasād Offering
• Sweet poṅgal or pāyasam – representing fulfilment and gratitude
• Fruits or jaggery-based sweets – symbolising sweetness in knowledge and service

*Significance of Āyudha Pūjā*
• Invokes blessings for knowledge, skill, and success
• Reminds us to sanctify our work as worship
• Inspires gratitude for the tools and means that sustain us
• Cultivates humility by seeing the Divine in all things

Inspiration
“Yā Dēvī Sarva Bhūtēṣu Vidyā-Rūpēṇa Samsthitā”
— May the Divine Mother, in the form of Amma, bless our work, learning, and service with wisdom and devotion.

Join us today, Wednesday 1st October, at the Amma Centre, Singapore, for Āyudha Pūjā with prayers, bhajans, and offerings, as we express gratitude to the Divine Mother and seek blessings for knowledge and success.
