Global inequality and the issue of poverty are pertinent problems in today’s world. There are many who are unable to afford even shoes, a basic, essential item of clothing that is vital to our everyday activities. Organised by the History and Current Affairs Society (HACAS), the Hwa Chong One Day Without Shoes (ODWS) 2015 service learning project hopes to raise awareness about the plight of the severely impoverished in Africa who are unable to even afford basic shoes, a piece of clothing taken for granted by many of us in more economically developed countries. The Hwa Chong ODWS 2015 also hopes to solicit funds for World Vision International, an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to improving the lives of the less privileged in the world.
