เนื่องในโอกาส วันมหาสมุทรโลก (World Oceans Day 2026) เครือข่าย Thailand Sustainable Islands Alliance (TSIA) ร่วมกับภาคีเครือข่ายจากภาครัฐ เอกชน ชุมชนท้องถิ่น และอาสาสมัครทั่วประเทศ ขอเชิญชวนทุกภาคส่วนร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกิจกรรม “30+ Islands Clean-Up: So Cool Mission 2026” ภายใต้แนวคิด

“A National Movement for Ocean Impact”

จากพลังของชาวเกาะ สู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงเพื่อมหาสมุทรไทย

กิจกรรมจะจัดขึ้นพร้อมกันในวันที่ 8 มิถุนายน 2569 โดยมี เกาะสมุย จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี เป็นศูนย์กลางการจัดงานและถ่ายทอดสัญญาณเชื่อมโยงเครือข่ายเกาะต่าง ๆ ทั่วประเทศ เพื่อร่วมแสดงพลังในการดูแลทะเลและชายฝั่งไทย

ปีนี้กิจกรรมสอดคล้องกับธีมวันมหาสมุทรโลก 2026 ขององค์การสหประชาชาติ ที่มุ่งเน้นการสร้างการมีส่วนร่วมของทุกภาคส่วนในการฟื้นฟูและปกป้องมหาสมุทร ผ่านการลงมือทำอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม โดยกิจกรรมประกอบด้วยการเก็บขยะชายหาด การฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศชายฝั่ง การเก็บข้อมูลขยะทะเล การคัดแยกและส่งต่อสู่ระบบเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน รวมถึงการสร้างความตระหนักรู้ด้านการลดขยะพลาสติกแบบใช้ครั้งเดียว

กิจกรรม “30+ Islands Clean-Up” เริ่มต้นจากการรวมพลังของเครือข่ายเกาะในงาน สัมมนาชาวเกาะเพื่อการท่องเที่ยวเกาะอย่างยั่งยืน ประเทศไทย และได้พัฒนาสู่การเป็นขบวนการระดับประเทศที่เชื่อมโยงชุมชนเกาะมากกว่า 30 แห่งทั่วประเทศไทย เพื่อร่วมกันขับเคลื่อนการจัดการขยะทะเล การท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืน และการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลในระยะยาว

เวลาเราพูดถึงปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในทะเล ภาพในหัวของคนส่วนใหญ่คือขยะพลาสติกตามชายหาด หลอด ถุงหูหิ้ว หรือกล่องโฟมที่นักท่องเที่ยวทิ้งไว้ แต่ขยะเหล่านั้นอาจเป็นเพียงยอดภูเขาน้ำแข็งที่เรามองเห็นด้วยตาเปล่า และการจัดการบนบกยังพอมีระบบระเบียบรองรับ

ทว่าลึกลงไปใต้ท้องทะเลกลับมีวิกฤตที่จัดการยากกว่านั้นหลายเท่า นั่นคือ “Ghost Gear” หรือ “อวนผี” อุปกรณ์ประมงที่ถูกทิ้งร้างหรือสูญหาย ซึ่งสร้างความเสียหายรุนแรงต่อระบบนิเวศอย่างมหาศาล

สำหรับประเทศไทย เคยถูกจัดอยู่ในอันดับต้น ๆ ของประเทศที่ปล่อยขยะพลาสติกลงสู่มหาสมุทรมากที่สุดในโลก จากข้อมูลของกรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง ร่วมกับรายงานสถานการณ์สิ่งแวดล้อม พบว่าน่านน้ำไทยเป็นหนึ่งในจุดยุทธศาสตร์ประมงที่หนาแน่นที่สุดในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ส่งผลให้มีปริมาณอวนผีสะสมอยู่ใต้ทะเลเป็นจำนวนมาก

พิกัดที่พบวิกฤตอวนผีหนาแน่นที่สุดในไทย ได้แก่ บริเวณอุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะสิมิลัน หมู่เกาะสุรินทร์ และเกาะหลีเป๊ะ ซึ่งมักพบเศษอวนประมงขนาดมหึมา น้ำหนักตั้งแต่ 500 กิโลกรัมไปจนถึงมากกว่า 1 ตัน จมเกาะติดอยู่กับแนวปะการังน้ำลึก

ขยะใต้ทะเลเหล่านี้นอกจากเกิดจากการตั้งใจทิ้ง ยังเกิดจากกระแสน้ำแรง คลื่นลมมรสุมที่พัดพาจนอวนขาด หรือการเดินเรือชนโขดหินใต้น้ำ จนอุปกรณ์จับสัตว์น้ำเหล่านี้หลุดลอยและจมลงสู่ก้นทะเล กลายเป็นสุสานที่ไร้คนรับผิดชอบผืนใหญ่ ครอบคลุมน่านน้ำไทยอยู่ในปัจจุบัน

"Recycling will fix the plastic crisis.”
We hear it a lot. But here's the truth: recycling is a patch, not a plan.

➡️ Plastic bottles? Only recyclable a few times, not forever.
➡️ According to Citeo (via ADEME), 4 recycled bottles make just 3 new ones.
➡️ Bio-based plastics? Often non-biodegradable. And even when they are, they don't always fully decompose.

Recycling isn't a silver bullet.

The real solution lies in reducing waste, improving traceability, and building genuine recovery systems, not just downstream fixes.

Message from our Indonesia Program Director!

Back in Jakarta and reflecting on an amazing few days ChangeNOW!

Second Life’s first time at the event, and what an experience to be able to share our work with the rest of the world 🌍

A personal highlight for me was bringing the small village of Muara Adang to Paris, through our virtual reality headsets, enabling attendees to see the reality of where we are working in contrast to the luxurious event setting of the Grand Palais.

I left feeling very grateful to have met some incredible people and motivated to continue pushing for real change despite the challenging environment we find ourselves in today.

Message from our CEO!

I wrapped up my time in France with a stop at Caudalie’s new headquarters in Paris, to join their Caudalie Talks 🍃

During this event, I presented to both Caudalie’s teams and a broader audience of attendees the 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, and shared the results after six years of action in Southeast Asia with Second Life.

What struck me is that many people, even loyal Caudalie customers, aren’t yet aware of this initiative. Most of my friends who use Caudalie products hadn’t noticed the 100% Ocean Plastic Collect logo on the packaging or understood its big significance.
So, it was a great opportunity to highlight their commitment, especially since the impact on local communities and the environment in Thailand, and now Indonesia, is massive.
We need more companies to step up like they are.

ร่วมเป็นวิทยากรให้ความรู้ด้าน การคัดแยกขยะตั้งแต่ต้นทาง

กิจกรรมจัดร่วมกับทางอำเภอ และทีม อสม.
โดยมี นายอำเภอเกาะยาว เป็นประธานในครั้งนี้

👥 มีผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมประมาณ 100 คน
บรรยากาศเต็มไปด้วยความร่วมมือและความตั้งใจในการจัดการขยะของชุมชน 🌱

to support as speakers on waste separation at source

The session was organized together with the district office and local health volunteers (VHV team)
and chaired by the District Chief of Koh Yao
