Peatlands may take up little space on the map, but their role reaches much further. 💧

Their waterlogged soils hold carbon and water while supporting wildlife and communities.

Together, these functions show why protecting biodiversity means caring for whole landscapes, not only the life we see within them.

From peatlands and forests to coastlines and marine ecosystems, 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 invites us to consider the connections that sustain each landscape.

What happens to one landscape rarely stays within it.

Across Southeast Asia, healthy peatlands support biodiversity, store carbon and sustain the communities around them. But when they are drained and degraded, the risk of fires rises, and the resulting haze can travel across borders.

People's Movement to Stop Haze works at the root of the issue by supporting community-led restoration, from rewetting and replanting peatlands to building more sustainable local livelihoods.

At 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, explore their work through real peat-soil samples, community stories and an interactive peatland management game.

A photograph can take us somewhere we have never been. 📷

It can bring unfamiliar wildlife into view, reveal a landscape closer to home, or introduce us to communities whose lives are connected to the land.

For Singapore-based social enterprise Wild Space, storytelling is one way to make conservation more accessible. Through nature experiences, conversations, photography and film, they create opportunities for more people to connect with the natural world.

At 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, discover their perspective through photography, documentary film, cultural artefacts and stories from the field.

Nature can look different depending on who is telling its story.

An image might be what first catches our attention. But stay with it, and we begin to see more: the life within a landscape, the people connected to it, and the work being done to protect and restore it.

These different points of view come together in 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, presented in partnership with Wild Space LLP and PM Haze.
