The WorkWell Leaders Impact Measure confirms a truth many have long intuited but never had evidence for:

Organisational wellbeing is the single most powerful driver of organisational performance.

And within that, one factor stands above all: leader wellbeing.

The data shows that when leaders are well, mentally, emotionally, and physically, their teams are more engaged, cultures more trusting, and performance more sustainable.

This finding reframes leadership itself. It’s no longer about resilience as endurance, but resilience as renewal. Leaders who care for their own wellbeing aren’t being self-indulgent; they’re being strategic.

Because when the leader thrives, so does the organisation.

What does wellbeing mean to you as a leader?

This week at our monthly CEO Breathe, hosted by Deutsche Bank, we explored the theme of Compassion. Through the Heart Coherence technique by the HeartMath Institute, leaders experienced how simple breathwork can bring the heart and mind into balance — moving us out of “fight/flight” and into calm clarity.

What’s most encouraging is seeing these practices ripple into workplaces. Debbie Ng from Singapore Pools recently led a Box Breathing exercise at their management retreat — a powerful example of leaders bringing mindfulness to their teams.

These moments remind us: leadership begins with presence.
Excited for next month’s theme: Commitment

When an employee has to take time off from a mental health-related absence, the work to bring them back has already begun. With 41% of employees in Singapore at high risk of a mental health issue (Telus Mental Health Index 2024), this is a challenge many HR leaders will face.

This morning, at our Navigating Return-to-Work: Organisational Tools for Mental Health Reintegration. This foundational workshop – designed to equip HR leaders with essential tools to support employees returning from mental health-related absences – has been developed for WorkWell Leaders and the Beyond the Label (BTL) Collective by the National University of Singapore’s Health and Wellbeing Team.

As part of our topical learning series for employees of our member organisations, we examined how to assess organisational readiness, establish a clear reintegration framework, and put effective processes into practice. We also worked through a real-world case study, sparking meaningful discussion on how policies and people practices can work hand in hand to support a smooth return to work.

It’s a journey that requires empathy, structure, and coordination — with the individual, their team, their manager, and their care providers.

Grateful to be part of a community that’s committed to making recovery not just possible but supported every step of the way.
