SLADS(SINGHBHUM LEGAL AID AND DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY) was started in 1983 by J.K.Mahato the present Secretary have a degree in Law and was teaching in school, when he heard that a tribal was imprisoned at Jamshedpur Jail for felling a tree. This person was in Jail for a more than 9 months without hearing, where as the maximum sentences for this offence was 6 months, using his legal skills Mr. Thus
was born SLADS as a response to this injustice. SLADS wants to direct its effort in meaningful and sustainable improved condition of empowering women and Gender equality for eliminating gender discrimination among the current challenges facing the world today. It will also contributes to achieving other goals from reducing poverty and hunger to the grass root lives improving maternal health and ensuring them good education and free from vulnerable diseases. To refurbish the extension of social justice among women, the year we expend for holding several advocacy, Seminars, workshop and Training program in the field of disability, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, Social Awareness, Promotion of Literacy etc. SLADS obtained the Legal Status on13th September 1985 under societies registration Act XXI-1860 in undivided Bihar and also after division of Bihar as separate Jharkhand state on the year 15th November 2000 the organisation also got registered in Jharkhand State dated 16th of May 2006 under the same and also having its Registration in FCRA of 1976, Income Tax Act12A and 80G and also having its own EPF Account for all staff.The operational area is Bihar and Whole Jharkhand.
