POV: We planned Youth Meets to spark connection... and came away reminded of what youth networks can make possible.

Across our Youth Meets in Vietnam and Cambodia, we saw conversations turn into connections, shared experiences become points of reflection, and familiar traditions take on fresh meaning.

For us, the most meaningful part was seeing youth leaders and alumni show up with openness, ready to listen, learn, exchange ideas and imagine new possibilities together.

A heartfelt thank you to our alumni, partners, speakers, moderators, emcees, colleagues and friends of SIF who made this possible.

Cheers,
Your SIF Youth Impact & Networks team

Earlier this month, we hosted journalists from China as part of Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI)โ€™s China Journalist Visit Programme, and had the opportunity to introduce SIF through voices from across our network, from volunteers and educators to media practitioners and content creators.

Visiting journalists heard about how Singaporeans are shaped by the values of diversity, cohesion and compassion, and how these same values are carried beyond our shores through volunteerism, storytelling and cross-cultural exchange. At SIF, our volunteers do us proud, choosing to connect, care and contribute in Singapore and across the region.

The journalists also shared their insights on Singaporeโ€™s brand of multiculturalism, shaped by what they experienced during the trip. It was a meaningful exchange of views.

Southeast Asia Partnership for Adaptation through Water (SEAPAW) will be at Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), joining partners and practitioners to advance practical solutions for urban water, flood resilience, and climate adaptation.

Across three sessions, we will share insights from SEAPAW working groups and explore how cities can move from planning to action.

๐Ÿ’ง Financing Urban Water and Sanitation Investments
An exclusive preview of the Financing Urban Water and Sanitation Investments Playbook, developed with insights from the Water Finance Working Group, convened by the World Bank Group Singapore Water Centre and SEAPAW, an initiative of the Singapore International Foundation and World Economic Forum.

๐ŸŒŠ From Shared Exposure to Shared Resilience
Key takeaways from SEAPAWโ€™s Flood Damage Reduction Roadmap, highlighting systems-based approaches to strengthening flood resilience across coastal, inland, and upstream systems.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ The Cost of Waiting
A panel discussion on why delayed climate adaptation decisions can be costly for cities, and what it takes to accelerate climate readiness.
We look forward to connecting with partners, city leaders, and water sector stakeholders at SIWW as we continue working together toward a more resilient Southeast Asia.

What does it take to build healthier, more resilient communities?

For Dr Daryl Yeo, a paediatrician and well-being advocate from Singapore, and Dr Prachi Sharda, a public health professional working on youth mental health systems in India, the answer starts with people โ€” and the systems that support them.

They reflected on how resilience and well-being go beyond individual outcomes to shape healthier workplaces, stronger communities, and more inclusive societies.

Through Asiaโ€™s Rising Circle (ARC), youth leaders from across ASEAN, China, and India came together to exchange perspectives, broaden worldviews, and learn from one another's experiences.

As ARC looks ahead to its next edition focused on employability and adaptability, their reflections are a reminder that while contexts may differ, many of the challenges โ€” and opportunities โ€” facing young people today are shared across borders.

โœจ Applications for ARC are now open until 28 June 2026.

Some lessons canโ€™t be learnt in a classroom alone. Through overseas service-learning opportunities, students gain unique, hands-on experiences and a greater awareness of how they can engage and connect with our regional neighbours.

As part of our mental health service-learning programme with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) School of Media, Arts and Design, students travelled to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for a week of volunteering and cultural exchange.

These experiences gave SP student (now a graduate) Sophia Lai new insights and perspectives, while providing her with an opportunity to apply the skills she had learnt in school to engage in meaningful conversations about mental health.

Read her reflections, as shared with The Straits Times, and learn more about our service-learning programmes on our website.

What does resilience look like in a world where we turn to our screens before we turn to one another?

As part of Asiaโ€™s Rising Circle (ARC)โ€™s inaugural edition, the panel, Digital Lifelines: Technology and Youth Well-being in Times of Change, explored how technology is reshaping mental well-being, connection, and resilience across Asia. Swipe through for key insights and highlights from the conversation.

ARC alumnus and Co-Founder of Riliv, a mental health platform from Indonesia, Audrey Maximillian Herli (Maxi), reflects on these ideas in his article.

As ARC looks ahead to its next edition focused on employability and adaptability, he explores how technology can become not just a source of pressure, but also a lifeline for support.

โœจ Applications for Asiaโ€™s Rising Circle are now open until 28 June 2026.

From navigating uncertainty and digital overwhelm to building safe spaces rooted in empathy and human connections, Asiaโ€™s Rising Circle (ARC) alumni Khine Pwint Khattar (Judi) and Chin Char Min remind us that well-being is not just a personal journey, but one that can be built with, and by, a community.

Through ARC, they connected with fellow changemakers across the region got to know each other, and discovered how youth are creatively tackling challenges in their own communities.

For Judi, resilience grows through community support and psychological flexibility in times of change. For Char Min, creating spaces where people feel safe to seek help is essential to building healthier communities and workplaces.

As ARC looks ahead to its next edition focused on employability and adaptability, their reflections remind us that future-ready leadership is not only about skills, but also the courage to keep learning, keeping a sense of openness and curiosity, and seeking out opportunities to meet like-minded peers to build a better world.

Applications for Asiaโ€™s Rising Circle (ARC) are now open!

This year, ARC will bring together emerging youth leaders from across ASEAN, China, and India to explore the future of work, employability, and cross-cultural collaboration in a rapidly changing world.

Designed for changemakers on the cusp of breakthrough, ARC is a regional leadership platform for young people ready to navigate uncertainty, build future-ready skills, and shape more inclusive opportunities across Asia.

Through panel discussions, Human Library conversations, learning journeys, and exchanges with fellow youth leaders, participants will explore what it means to thrive in evolving industries, workplaces, and societies.

At Southeast Asia Partnership for Adaptation through Water (SEAPAW)โ€™s partner event session at Ecosperity Week 2026, Water at the Core: Financing Archetypes for Climate Resilience in Southeast Asia, more than 100 participants from 82 organisations explored how water can serve as a practical entry point for adaptation finance.

The session also marked the launch of SEAPAWโ€™s latest knowledge report, Adaptation through Water: Scaling Private Sector Finance for Climate Adaptation in Southeast Asia, which outlines key enablers to mobilise private sector participation and scale water resilience solutions across the region.

Thank you to all speakers, partners, and participants, for contributing to this important exchange.
