Community Cultural Dimensions CCD aims to promote professional arts practices with communities in Singapore and the region. linktr.ee/communityculturaldimensions

In 2010, Community Cultural Development (Singapore), or CCD (Singapore) for short, started out in the Substation as an informal web-based collective of artists and practitioners that met on a periodic for workshops and sharing sessions to learn about the practice of arts in the community from each other. The website also sought to archive and document CCD-related activities in Singapore. The sessi

ons were well received and in 2012, the team that organized the first Community Cultural Development Symposium with the support of Singapore Polytechnic and Universo Asia. This was the first time regional and local artists that worked closely with the community got together in one place to share and discuss their practice. From the feedback, the team realized that in order to better develop the practice of CCD in Singapore, more needed to be done and on a regular basis and in November 2012, CCD (Singapore) registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee in the Republic of Singapore. As of July 2021, CCD (Singapore) was changed to become Community Cultural Dimensions, in a bid to save on costs. While Community Cultural Dimensions is a private entity, it continues the work of CCD (Singapore) in much the same way.

Hi everyone, Felicia here. Just an update on the latest work done via the CCD. Research on the Slow Art Guide at the National Gallery was completed. A Curriculum Guide and Training Programme on Art Appreciation, for the Gallery Access and Community staff to train staff of All Saints Home was also completed. Much thanks to Alicia and her team at the National Gallery for these opportunities!

Dr Heather Hill also returned to Singapore over 2024-2025 to train the Occupational and Physio Therapists of the Methodist Welfare Services. The CCD proposed and coordinated for the training programme on Embodied Relational Movement, which was supported by a private funder.

Hi everyone,
As some of you know, I have been working with various orgs. who work with seniors, through projects on creative dance and art. Over the last 10 years or more, there have been more interest in senior arts engagement. However, feedback from the ground of the social sector indicate that there is a need to rethink the quality of our arts engagement, and to ‘up the game’ for ourselves as practitioners.

This is why I initiated this conference on Geragogy and the Arts for 2024, which is co-organised by NAFA, Centre for Lifelong Education. It hopes to bring together experienced Singaporean artist-facilitators who have dedicated 5-10 years of arts practice in response to the seniors they work with. The conference has 2 parts : (1) A set of video presentations, much like conference presentations of about 10 mins. (2) Onsite practice-based workshops on 29th June at NAFA. The focus of this conference is NOT academic. Emphasis is placed on the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of practice.
