Story Connection Ltd is a a non-profit company (a company limited by guarantee) set up by two of Singapore’s leading storytellers, Roger Jenkins and Sheila Wee. It is the company behind the 398.2 Storytelling Festival Singapore. After the successful second run of the 398.2 Storytelling Festival (2016) which attracted almost 4,000 people, its founding director, Roger Jenkins, invited fellow storyt
eller Sheila Wee to join him in setting up a non-profit company to manage the Festival in order to develop it into an established and eagerly anticipated feature of the annual Singapore arts calendar. With the aid of a grant from the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, the Story Connection Ltd was incorporated on 31 March 2017 with Sheila and Roger as its two co-Directors. WHAT ARE OUR AIMS?
- To nurture and encourage storytellers in Singapore through opportunities to develop, practice and share their skills with both peers and public.
- To renew and promote the art of storytelling for both children and adults, presenting oral storytelling as both a traditional and contemporary art form;
- To encourage an interest in reading and literature, in particular an awareness of Asian stories;
- To celebrate diverse cultures and to connect communities. WHAT ARE OUR ACTIVITIES? We organise a variety of community storytelling events that offer our members the opportunity to practice their skills as tellers, broadening their repertoire and gaining experience in front of a real audience. We also host the Story Line, a monthly meeting for members at which they are encouraged to share a story they are working on, in order to receive feedback and suggestions to help them tell the story in a more engaging and possibly more effective manner.
