[SCxJTP2024] WE ARE BACK!
After a long hiatus due to Covid-19, our annual Small Change X Juara Turtle Project conservation camp will be happening again from 20 to 28 July 2024!

Come join us for a week of exciting conservation activities on Tioman Island, including turtle monitoring, coral rehabilitation and lots more! Play a part and make a difference to our precious oceans.
*Both divers and non-divers are welcome!

Turtle Conservation
1) Turtle talks & night patrols
2) hatchery work
3) nesting and release events (depends on luck)
4) nest excavation

Get involved in learning and giving tours about turtles to visitors of Juara Turtle Project. You will also conduct night patrols on the beach for nesting mothers and hatchlings, relocate any nests found into the hatchery, and release the babies when they have hatched.

Coral rehabilitation
1) coral block making
2) fragment collection and prep
3) transplanting
4) block placement
5) cleaning and maintenance of blocks
6) photo data collection

Building an artificial reef from scratch. Help make coral blocks, pick and prep coral fragments for transplanting. Assist to setup a system for monitoring progress and data collection. You will also transplant any mature fragments to the rehabilitation site, and maintain the rehabilitation site - cleaning and scrubbing included.
So get ready to get wet and salty for our coral reefs!

[SAVE THE DATES] Small Change X Juara Turtle Project 2024.
to the beginnings of Small Change’s Conservation camps with Juara Turtle Project in Tioman, Malaysia, with a video from the recce and planning trip for the inaugural SCxJTP Conservation Camp 2018!
For those who missed the camp in 2018 and 2019, we are in the midst putting together the first run of the camp since Covid.
On top of sea turtle conservation, expect more coral reef rehabilitation work and citizen science elements as we help JTP restart their reef rehabilitation program!
Camp dates: 20-28 July 2024.
*you don’t have to commit to full 9 days.
