AMTS at the Singapore Palliative Care Conference 💙🎶

We were honoured to contribute to compassionate care through meaningful sharing and engagement in impactful ways:

🎵 Creating Spaces to Connect
Through our interactive booth, we invited attendees to experience the power of music and music therapy—featuring lyrics from our professional members’ clinical work and transforming attendees’ reflections into music through collaborative songwriting

🎤 Showcasing Music Therapy in Singapore
Our professional members highlighted the depth and diversity of music therapy practice locally, demonstrating its role in supporting patients, families, and care teams.

🌍 Learning & Networking
We had the privilege of connecting with an esteemed keynote speaker and colleagues from overseas, exchanging insights and strengthening our shared commitment to compassionate, person-centred care.

Thank you to the for this meaningful opportunity, and to everyone who engaged with us—we continue to be inspired by the collective dedication to bringing comfort, connection, and dignity through music. See you next time! ✨

We often think connection means being “in sync.”
And it’s true - humans naturally synchronize, even down to heart rate. But in our new open access paper in Frontiers in Psychology, we found something more complex:

• Heart-rate synchrony in music therapy is real and measurable
• Very high synchrony segments appear often driven by patients
• Meaningful therapeutic moments also happen in very low synchrony segments
• High synchrony associated with active intervention duration at least ~20–25 minutes
This is a follow-up to our earlier work on nonverbal synchrony.

A small spotlight on the voices behind the work 🎵

In Special Education and Early Intervention settings, music therapists do more than what meets the eye by holding space, adapting in the moment, and finding ways to connect beyond words.

In this three-part series, we’re shining light on music therapists as they share their personal reflections, favourite songs, insights, and the moments that have shaped how they practise.

Swipe to find out more from our Professional Members, and stay tuned for the next installments!
