What does caring for a child with cancer look like on the other side of the world? 🌍

On Tuesday, VIVA welcomed students from Indiana University Bloomington as part of their study abroad programme — and the conversations that followed were anything but ordinary.

Dr Steven Tucker shared his remarkable journey across healthcare systems, from practising as an oncologist in Los Angeles to becoming a GP here in Singapore. His reflections on the contrasts, challenges, and lessons between the two sparked a thought-provoking discussion on what quality care truly looks like — and who it reaches.

The group also got an up-close look at VIVA's work supporting children with cancer and their families — a reminder that behind every statistic is a child, and a community rallying around them. 💙

Through Team Courage – Planting for Kids, our young participants discovered the joy of nurturing life, learning that growth takes patience, care, and perseverance. From planting seeds to caring for their little greens, each activity encouraged curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for nature.

More than just gardening, the programme provided opportunities for children to connect with the environment, build confidence through hands-on learning, and experience the rewards of watching something they planted flourish.
