Singapore U16 girls wrap up Srikandi Merdeka Cup campaign with valuable international exposure
Singapore’s U16 Women’s National Team wrapped up their Srikandi Merdeka Cup 2026 campaign at the group stage, picking up three points from three matches in Central Java, Indonesia.
The tournament was a first taste of international football at this level for much of the squad, with goals from Qhalisah Arysha, Amelia Tan and Ray-En Ho — who also earned their international debuts here — among the strongest signs of what this group is capable of.
Singapore opened against Jordan on 15 August, going down 1-3 despite Ray-En’s penalty in the 82nd minute. Two days later, the side responded with a 2-0 win over Putri Nusantara (Indonesia B), Qhalisah’s header and Amelia’s 90+4′ strike sealing the result. The campaign closed on 19 August with a 6-0 defeat to eventual group winners Thailand.
More than the results, though, the tournament gave the squad a clear read on where they stand as they build towards AFC U17 Women’s qualifiers in October.
