Our first GCM of 2026 follows the successful Group AGM held last week.

During the meeting, we discussed many matters and set our focus on two key strategic priorities for the year:

• Integrating the concept of NPC into our Group Camp
• Advancing Community Scouting

These initiatives will move us closer to our mission and strengthen our journey from good to great.

Towards greatness — an exciting year lies ahead. Let’s go!

2026 Group Address

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

First, I would like to congratulate our eight Chief Commissioner Award recipients of 2025. Your achievement is truly outstanding and makes all of us very proud.

I would also like to commend our Scouts who represented our Group at the SG60 Jamboree. It was a significant national event held once every 10 years, and this edition commemorated Singapore’s 60th year of independence. I hope you had great fun and gained meaningful experiences through your participation.

As a team, we successfully organised our 60th Anniversary Campfire, graced by Mr. Edward Chia, Grassroots Adviser to Zhenghua. I would like to specially commend Scouter Eugene Lwa for leading the organising team. It was a proud and memorable evening, with one of the highest attendances by our old boys and girls. Well done to everyone involved!

Two years ago, I spoke about one final mission before passing on the baton — to take our Group from good to great.

To achieve this, I shared three key strategies last year:

First, Education and Communication.
Second, Bringing Our Mission to Life
Third, A Growth and Sustainability Mindset.

This year, I would like to announce two strategic actions we are taking:

By introducing competitive and organisational elements from NPC into our camp operations, we aim to elevate planning standards, strengthen ex*****on, and deepen leadership development and scouting experiences across our programmes.

By moving into Community Scouting, we aim to extend our impact beyond schools into the wider community, This will enable alumni and those who wish to contribute to serve and mentor, strengthen leadership continuity, and ensure our Group remains sustainable and relevant for the future.

Much work remains, but these key initiatives will surely move us closer to fulfilling our mission.

United, we will achieve greatness.

Yours in Scouting,
Lai Chan Hong, Freeman
Group Scout Leader, TFSG

Reflections from the Awardees

“Attaining the Chief Scout Award was something I never thought I could do. I’ve always been a quiet person, often avoiding challenges and missing opportunities since primary school. But with the encouragement of those around me, I decided to try for the award because I wanted to make them proud. It wasn’t easy, but the journey taught me valuable and critical skills that contributed to who I am today. The hardest part for me was the interview. It was something I had always feared and avoided. Yet, I vividly remember walking out of that room with a smile. Everyone was supportive and attentive, making the environment feel safe. For once, I could speak up without fear of being judged. I even got to hear the stories of other Scouts and realised that everyone has their own struggles. This journey allowed me to grow as a person and forge new friendships. I learnt the importance of perseverance, confidence, and responsibility. It was one of the rare times I felt truly proud of myself. Looking back, I’m glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone to pursue this award. I don't regret it and I am thankful for all the experiences and opportunities Scouts gave me.”
— NAI SI RUI JAZRYL

" Throughout my 4 year journey in Scouts, I have faced and went through a multitude of challenges, rehearsals and celebrations together with my peers. Scouts has taught me multiple lifelong lessons and values to uphold, be it from the meetings held or from the advice passed down from my seniors. To start with, it has taught me the importance of teamwork. Being a part of the Patrol Leader Council, we had to organise and run a lot of meetings for our juniors so that they could learn new scouting skills such as backwoodsman or knot-tying. These tasks allowed me and my fellow peers to develop our communication skills and overall knowledge of working as a team. Without proper communication, teamwork and unity, do not expect to go far in your scouting journey. Additionally, it has allowed me to grow as a leader. Being a patrol leader was no easy task. Having to take care of your juniors whilst also teaching them and getting them to work as a team are responsibilities that I at first did not know whether I would be able to handle. But as the months and meetings went by, I was able to perform better in my role and now know what it takes to be a leader. It is not just about giving out orders and instructions that makes one a good leader, it is also whether people genuinely look up to you as a role model and feel belonged in your patrol, to have that strong sense of brotherhood. However, I believe that my most important takeaway from all of this is that in life, we will have to accept that not all things will go our way. Our outdoor cooking sessions can be ruined or cancelled due to heavy downpours. One of our daily meetings may not run as smoothly as others because one of the patrol leaders fell sick. We can go through as much planning as we want, anticipating every possible scenario and making up counter-measures, but in the end it can all go sideways because of one thing or another. However, we can’t do anything as it is simply out of our control, we cannot change the past or the future and sometimes, it is best to just let it happen. Persevere, learn from our mistakes and try to be better next time and if that does not work, at least we put in the effort and thought into it. The journey leading up to this has truly been a rollercoaster of emotions. I will never forget all the laughter and memories made together as a unit, from the campfire songs we sang, to the small talk during pioneering or backwoodsman, to even the meals shared together during group camps. I would like to thank the scouters, teachers, juniors and most importantly, my peers in the PLC for making this journey something to cherish forever."
— ISAAC LIM YI AN

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Congratulations to our eight Chief Commissioner Award recipients in 2024! Keep striving for excellence in your scouting journey. We are not chasing numbers, but this marks a significant milestone as the total number of CCA holders surpasses 100—103 in all. Keep up the great work, team!

A big thumb up to our scouts who participated in the 11th National Patrol Camp and to the volunteers who served as camp staff. Your effort and teamwork made us proud. Although there were no merit awards this time, we gave our best, making it a valuable and memorable experience for all of us.

Last year, I spoke about one last mission before I handed over the baton - taking our group from good to great and calling upon everyone to strive towards it. Since then, our journey has begun. Today, I want to elaborate on how we will achieve it, starting by saying that we have not come thus far by chance, and greatness will not happen by chance either—it takes strategy, conviction, and a growth mindset.

To achieve this, we must focus on three key strategies:

1. Education & Communication – Through clear and consistent messaging, we inspire commitment and belief in our direction.

2. Embedding Our Mission into Our Vision – Integrate our mission into everything we do, shaping our values, decisions, and culture. This alignment strengthens our vision of excellence, leadership and brotherhood in scouting.

3. Growth & Sustainability Mindset – Foster a culture of continuous improvement, where we not only grow but also sustain our achievements for the future.

Greatness is a journey, not a destination. Challenges will come, but together, we will rise above them. Let’s commit to pushing further, aiming higher, and becoming the best we can be.

Lastly, the highlight of 2025 will be our 60th Anniversary Celebration Campfire, organized by Scouter Eugene Lwa. We look forward to coming together once again, including our old boys and girls. I can already imagine what a memorable evening it will be. It will be a testament to our rich history, achievements, and aspirations for the future.

United, we will achieve greatness.
