5miles - Light the Way We run an orphanage and a cafe as a training centre for the orphanage children in Bintan. We also run feeding programs in Bintan and Batan.

In 2024, we set up a school for adult learners and a kindegarten for underprivileged communities in Bintan. 5miles (Five Miles) (incorporated in Singapore) was set up in memory of Vercella Veronica who passed away on 24 September 2011. She was only 9 years old. V V, as she was affectionately known to her new found friends from many different churches in Singapore, came from Batam to seek treatment

at KKH for a rare and severe type of leukemia. When she arrived, she was in terrible shape and was barely conscious. But by His grace, V V was miraculously healed in April and was told by the doctor that she had been cleared of all cancer cells. She returned to Batam in May 2011 where she spent her last months tirelessly singing God's praise, drawing, colouring, cycling, etc. During the time V V was in Singapore, her family could not afford to pay the medical bills. But our Jehovah Jireh provided for the family's every need and paid in full the $250,000 in bills incurred over 9 months! For reasons we still do not understand, for God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours, the Lord saw fit to take her home after she succumbed to the chickenpox virus which ravaged her body and resulted in multi-organ failure. In June 2011, the Lord Jesus gave us this name 5miles but kept silent on its purpose until V V's passing in September. It is based on this verse the Lord also gave to us: "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles." Matthew 5:41

5miles is about going the extra mile for those who need our help, driven by God's grace and compassion. As our tagline suggests, 5miles will light the way for the lost and unsaved to experience His mercy and receive his Salvation.

5miles aims to support those in need of financial, educational and medical assistance in practical and meaningful ways. We will start small, think big (for our God is limitless) and dig deep, building relationships and loving those the Lord sends our way. Very grateful to 2:52 Agora Church for blessing 5miles by sending a team to Tanjung Uban to teach the children at our Calisa Towdah Preschool, Hineni Learning Centre Bukit Senyum and Towdah Orphanage about dental care and hand hygiene, as well as the healthy plate. Thankful too for the time they spent coaching our Towdah boys in basketball and installing a basketball net so that everyone can play in our own backyard. For supporting Cafe Flava by sponsoring the birthday dinner for our Towdah March babies and the pizza treat for kids at Hineni Learning Centre Bukit Senyum.
