Last month, our Girls had the privilege to join the inaugural Overseas Service Learning Programme at The Light ASEAN Childrenโs Home, Mae Sot, Thailand (15 - 21 March 2025). The Home provides a safe place for children, the majority of whom are of Karen ethnicity. Just after our safe return, we were deeply saddened to learn of the recent earthquake that struck Myanmar and affected Thailand. We are relieved to hear that everyone at the Home is safe and sound. Our hearts go out to the children, the team at the Home, and everyone affected by this devastating event. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them during this challenging time. Gladiolus Place stands in solidarity with all those affected by the recent events, and our hearts are with you.
This trip was led by our dedicated Counsellor Nat along with our incredible Staff, for our Girls to have the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow through meaningful service. A huge thank you to Counsellor Nat for organising this impactful service learning experience for our Girls, and to our Staff for their unwavering hard work and commitment. A special thank you to Dr. Tiah Ling and Maureen for their care and support for our Girls while in Mae Sot.
We are also deeply grateful to The Light ASEAN Childrenโs Home for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of their beautiful mission.โค๏ธ Every moment spent helping others has taught our Girls valuable lessons in kindness, resilience, and the power of giving back. At Gladiolus Place, we are committed to building socio-emotional resilience and instilling strong characters and values through such experiences. We hope that through this programme, the Girls will continue to embrace these values and use them to positively impact their communities.๐ธ
