One Week Left to Submit to Screenwriters Lab! The countdown is on! The clock is ticking!

Submissions for our inaugural Screenwriters Lab close on 31 August 2026 11.59pm, and you have just one week left to enter.

Screenwriters Lab - an initiative of IMDA's Talent Accelerator Programme presented by the Screenwriters Association (Singapore) - is more than a competition. It's a development journey that takes writers from the earliest stages of selection through to a final live pitch, with masterclasses from renowned international mentors to guide you along the way.
Winners stand to walk away with cash prizes from SGD 3,000 to SGD 5,000.
As a reminder, selected participants will need to be available during these key periods:
• Online Masterclass Period: 16 September - 28 October 2026
• Live Pitch Session: December 2026

Following the screening, Raihan Halim will discuss the making of BADAK and dissect a key scene from the film. The session will be moderated by SAS Exco Member and screenwriter Leslie Tan.

Meet the international mentors and judges joining our inaugural Screenwriters Lab!

Rienkje Attoh and Holly Phillips will mentor shortlisted participants through exclusive online masterclasses, helping them refine their concepts ahead of the final live pitch.

Joining the judging panel are writer-director-producer Stuart Beattie and creative producer Song Jin Sun.

What makes a story resonate with Chinese-language audiences in Singapore?

This craft talk brings together experienced practitioners from Singapore’s Chinese-language film and television scene to discuss the art of shaping compelling stories, memorable characters and themes that connect with viewers.

Look forward to a lively and in-depth talk with notable screenwriters Ho Hee Ann (Contender, Money No Enough 2), Cheong Yan Peng (C.L.I.F. 2, The Dream Makers 2), Link Sng (Ah Boys to Men 1 & 2, Geylang) and Liu Lin Yi (I Not Stupid 3). The talk will be moderated by our very own SAS member Boris Boo (Lucky Boy, Recipe of Life.)

This will be our first event for Speaking in Tongues, a new SAS series on language specific screenwriting in Singapore. Please note this talk will be conducted in Chinese with live English subtitles.
