For Faith, every day at Diabetes Singapore brought new opportunities to learn, grow and make a difference. From creating content and planning events to supporting outreach initiatives and engaging stakeholders, her internship was filled with meaningful experiences and hands-on learning.

๐Ÿ’ก One of her biggest takeaways was discovering that preventing diabetes goes beyond healthy eating. Education, healthy habits, community support, and early intervention all play an important role in helping people live healthier lives.

โค๏ธ What touched her most was meeting individuals and families affected by Type 1 diabetes. Through their stories of hope, resilience and positivity, Faith gained a deeper appreciation of the strength of the diabetes community and the impact of Diabetes Singapore's work.

๐ŸŒฑ Along the way, she developed stronger communication, time management, event planning and content creation skills, while learning to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

When asked to describe her internship in one word, Faith chose:

๐Ÿ’œ ๐—š๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ง๐—˜๐—™๐—จ๐—Ÿ

"Thankful for a meaningful internship that challenged me to broaden my perspective."

โœจ Thank you, Faith, for your dedication, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve others. Your journey reminds us that while work builds experience, it is often the people we meet along the way who leave the greatest impact.

For Jason, no two days at Diabetes Singapore looked the same. From policy development and process improvement to volunteering at community events and engaging external partners, every experience brought new opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow.

๐Ÿ๏ธ One lesson that stayed with him was gaining a deeper appreciation of the realities of living with diabetes. While many people may not see it, managing diabetes requires constant attention, discipline, and resilience every single day.

๐Ÿค What made the biggest impact were the moments spent connecting directly with the community. Whether volunteering at the Sugar Smart Festival and Sugar Smart Families programmes or observing how partnerships are built, Jason gained valuable insights into how organisations and communities come together to create meaningful change.

Through his internship, he strengthened his communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills while learning to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

When asked to describe his internship in one word, Jason chose:

"From governance to community outreach, no two days were ever the same."

๐ŸŒŸ Thank you, Jason, for your enthusiasm, adaptability, and commitment to making a difference. Your journey reminds us that every conversation, partnership, and act of service contributes to a healthier and stronger community.

๐Ÿ“Š For Jie Min, her internship at Diabetes Singapore was more than developing policies and analysing data. It was about understanding the people behind the numbers and turning insights into meaningful action.

๐Ÿ’ก One of her biggest takeaways was learning that diabetes is influenced by much more than sugar intake. Factors such as exercise, sleep, and family history all play an important role in shaping one's health journey.

๐Ÿค What impacted her most were the conversations with Diabetes Singapore members. Listening to their stories of courage, resilience, and perseverance gave her a deeper appreciation of how outreach, advocacy, and support can make a real difference in people's lives.

When asked to describe her internship in one word, Jie Min chose:

Our presence at the carnival reflects a key focus for us: empowering children and youths ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ“with the right knowledge early. Healthy habits formed young have the strongest longโ€‘term impact, and todayโ€™s youths are tomorrowโ€™s advocates, caregivers, and changemakers.๐ŸŒฑโœจ

๐Ÿ’™ At our booth, we were glad to meet many young ones and students ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“ โ€” some of whom came with their parents โ€” eager to learn about practical steps they can take to stay healthy and prevent diabetes.

Their curiosity and enthusiasm reaffirm our belief that youth engagement is not just important โ€” it is essential for building a healthier Singapore for generations to come. ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ’ซ

Special thanks to our youth volunteers from Anderson-Serangoon Junior College and Jurong Pioneer Junior College for journeying with us on our efforts to advance the national conversations on blood sugar, a key step towards preventive health. ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

๐Ÿ’™ Nursesโ€™ Day 2026 โ€” Celebrating the Hearts Behind the Care

Every day, our Diabetes Singapore nurses show up with compassion, patience, and a kind of strength that quietly changes lives. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ช

Today, we celebrate them โ€” and weโ€™re letting our patients do the talking. ๐Ÿซถ

โœจ โ€œShe didnโ€™t just check my numbersโ€ฆ she checked how I was coping.โ€
โœจ โ€œI felt seen, heard, and never rushed.โ€
โœจ โ€œShe explained everything so clearly. I left feeling confident, not scared.โ€
โœจ โ€œHer encouragement helped me believe I could manage my diabetes.โ€

These Google reviews reflect what we see daily โ€” nurses who go beyond clinical care to deliver comfort, clarity, and confidence. ๐Ÿ’›
Nurses who make patients feel safe. Nurses who turn fear into empowerment. Nurses who remind every person that they are not alone. ๐Ÿค—

Today, we honour your skill, your empathy, your resilience, and the countless moments of kindness that never make the headlines but change someoneโ€™s life forever. ๐ŸŒˆ

Happy Nursesโ€™ Day to all our Diabetes Singapore nurses โ€” and all nurses โ€” for their in uplifting lives! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

During our community talk on Sugar Smart Living, we shared about the many factors that affect blood sugar โ€” beyond just white sugar โ€” and also how fibre helps slow down blood sugar spikes. A simple tip: eat fibre first, followed by protein and carbohydrates. ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช

At our booth, we met residents living with diabetes who shared their tips in keeping blood sugar in control, including Mdm Toh who diligently goes for a short walk after every meal which she found effective in keeping her blood sugar steady. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ

Thank you, Woodgrove, for having us and giving us the opportunity to spread awareness on blood sugar โ€” a key step towards preventive health. ๐Ÿ’™
