Amidst the daily rains and rumbles from aftershocks, and risk of landslides, local authorities are working tirelessly to repair infrastructures including damaged roads, bridges and power grids to facilitate access and aid to affected, remote and isolated communities, and further stabilise the post-quake situation at worst-hit Sarangani province.

The joint ground engagements and assessments by HM response team, alumni and local partners, revealed that cooked food is a major requirement of the IDPs during this acute emergency phase, as displaced families are still afraid to return to their homes and kitchens. Moreover, due to the large numbers of displacement, toilets have become a dire shortage and concern at evacuation centres.

The collaboration kickstarted distribution of cooked food and provision of portaloos (portable toilets) to help address the basic needs of nutrition and sanitation.

Humanity Matters [๐‡๐Œ] presented at this weekโ€™s Asia Pacific Programme for Senior National Security Officers [๐€๐๐๐’๐๐Ž] organised by the Rajaratnam School of International Studies [๐‘๐’๐ˆ๐’], involving participants from 21 countries.

Against the heightening VUCA world, with increasing natural disasters, armed conflicts and social unrests, and as part of the whole-of-society approach, HM shared on its ground-up ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐œ๐จ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง initiatives to help boost ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž for ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.

Sagaing Region was the epicentre of the 7.8 magnitude quake which struck Myanmar on 28 March 2025, claiming over 5,000 lives and displacing 130,000 others in Myanmar.
