How to turn adversity into opportunity- The Mcdonalds Story
After years of hauling sets and working lights during back-breaking shifts on silent film sets at Columbia Movie Studios, brothers Maurice and Dick McDonald saved up and opened their own movie theater, with in-house snacks and drinks. This was followed by a move to San Bernandino and food stand venture that would cater to drivers.
The two brothers tried to mimic the assembly-line production method and focused on streamlining operations by reducing the menus, simplifying recipes and acquiring equipment that would make for quicker and tastier meals. The reduced personnel costs allowed them to slash prices, which attracted a huge crowd, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The first Mcdonalds is now converted into a museum.
What adversity are you facing and have you tried to turn it into an opportunity?
